HotelTonight – Find Your Dream Park City Hotel in Minutes
I've been to my fair share of small towns, but I've visited few as charming and as pretty as Park City, Utah. This idyllic mountain town is a popular destination year-round, but it's definitely best known as a ski destination – at least that's how I thought of it before my recent summer Park City vacation. I quickly came to realize, though, that it's also a terrific spot for a summer getaway.
After weeks of suffering through sweltering heat in the city, I decided that I wanted to get away for a weekend and explore some place new. I checked for cheap last-minute flights, and I found a great deal on a flight to Salt Lake City, which I realized is just a short drive away from the well-known mountain town of Park City. The thought of enjoying fresh mountain air, beautiful natural scenery and great outdoor activities immediately won me over, so I booked my flight and started packing for my trip to Park City. Just as I was about to board my plane, though, I realized that I didn't actually have a place to stay in Park City. So I pulled up HotelTonight's app and booked a great last-minute hotel in Park City. Some people may think that planning a spur-of-the-moment trip is stressful, but with HotelTonight, it's never been easier or more convenient.
Deer Valley
Everybody knows Deer Valley as a top-notch ski resort, but this massive resort doesn't just shut down once the snow has melted. Instead, it turns into a haven for outdoors enthusiasts, as Deer Valley provides great biking and hiking trails, scenic chairlift rides and outdoor concerts. While Deer Valley is certainly pretty when it's coated in snow, it's just as pretty during the summer months, when it's full of greenery, beautiful wild flowers and endless blue skies. I spent my first morning in Park City enjoying the beautiful scenery and outdoor activities in Deer Valley, and I was so relieved to finally be spending the day in a beautiful location with fantastic summer weather.
Main Street
Park City's Main Street is a historic district that looks like a painting. This pretty street was once the heart of a silver mining town, and it still maintains some of its old-world charm. Main Street is now home to a great selection of boutiques, restaurants and even art galleries, so it's the perfect place to go if you want to enjoy some great shopping or great food. After a morning of hiking, I was definitely in the mood for some good food, which is why I made my way to Main Street. It's easy to spend hours on Main Street, because there's so much to do and see on this charming stretch.
Utah Olympic Park
As you probably know, Utah hosted the Winter Olympics back in 2002, and today visitors can check out the Utah Olympic Park year-round. During the winter months, the Utah Olympic Park features bobsled rides and museums about skiing and the Olympic games. In the summer months, visitors can enjoy great hiking trails, zip lining, ropes courses and even summer tubing. Basically, the Utah Olympic Park is a giant playground that adults will love, so you can bet that I enjoyed every minute of my time in the Olympic Park. Even when there's no snow on the ground, the Utah Olympic Park is definitely worth a visit.
The Weber River
The next day, I woke up with a craving for adventure. Fortunately, I was in just the right place for an adrenaline-inducing adventure, so I booked a white water rafting trip on the Weber River. This river is a quick trip outside of Park City, and it's a great river for white water rafting novices, like myself. My rafting trip lasted about two hours, and while we didn't get rocked around by massive rapids, there were plenty of fun rapids to enjoy during the trip. Since I live in a big city, I rarely get to experience fun outdoor activities like white water rafting, so this was definitely a treat for me. As I headed back to the airport later that night, I thought of how lucky I was to be able to book a great last-minute trip to Park City, Utah.
