HotelTonight – 12South Nashville Hotels
The thing about Nashville, Tennessee for me isn't the music scene, although I have always enjoyed that and it's obviously world-renowned. It isn't the buzz and vibe in the tourist areas, even though millions of people visit here every year and it's about as friendly a place as you'll ever want to visit. It's everything put together to form a sort of collage of a city that offers something for everyone. If you're a young professional, you'll find a home here. If you're retired, there are communities for you. If you're a child, you'll have a lot to do on any given day. I love that city, and I always take advantage of any opportunity to see it. Lately, what I've been doing when there for work is extending my trip by 24 hours so I could explore one neighborhood at a time. On my last trip, I chose to spend those 24 hours exploring the 12South neighborhood. I wasn't worried about finding a place to stay, as I travel with HotelTonight. The Restoration
12South is a neighborhood that has been through some ups and downs in its time. I heard about this from a nice man I struck up a conversation with at a cafe where I stopped for coffee after getting there. I find that this is a good way to get the lay of the land and find out what to see when exploring. He told me that there was a lot of restoration happening these days, mostly on homes that people were investing in hoping that the neighborhood would catch on. It certainly has, as I had heard from others that it's one of the most popular in Nashville to move to currently.
The Shopping
I'm not generally much of a shopper. I don't like crowds, a lot of noise and really don't like competing to spend money on things. I do most of my shopping online. If I lived in 12South, I think that would change. I walked through all kinds of boutiques and little, locally-owned places where the owners come to greet you and make small talk and don't push you into buying anything. That's the type of shopping I like, and I wound up buying a lot of gifts for people.
The Food
The food in 12South is also quite trendy, but I wasn't in the mood for trendy food. I wanted something rock solid and delicious. One of the shop owners told me about a pizza place up the road that was very popular with residents. I gave it a try, and I immediately understood why it was so busy. The crust was the perfect mix of thin and crispy. The sauce was the perfect mix of tart but subtle. The cheese and toppings were the perfect mix of chewy and flavorful.
