HotelTonight – East Memphis Hotels Brought to You
No matter where you go in Memphis, Tennessee, odds are you're going to find something very interesting. It's just that kind of a place. This is not one of those generic, all-the-same places where you could feel like you've seen the entire city in one afternoon. Memphis has a soul that's spread out across all of its neighborhoods, and every time I've been here to explore one I've wound up having an experience that I would always remember. I wanted to continue with my little tradition of taking every 24-hour period I could find to explore one additional neighborhood in Memphis on my last business trip. I extended my stay by a day and chose the East Memphis part of town for my exploration mission. I would walk around, see what there was to see, talk to people and learn about life in this little community. I would also not worry at all about where I was going to stay, as I traveled with my HotelTonight app. It would find me an East Memphis hotel room as soon as I was ready to get some sleep.
The Business Community
One of the first things I noticed about East Memphis is that its business community was absolutely booming. There were worldwide corporations present here that everyone has heard of at one point or another. However, there were also quite a few small businesses present that mixed in with the behemoths quite well. There were enormous office buildings and smaller, older commercial buildings that looked like they had a lot of soul and character. I've never really been intrigued by business areas, but this one was quite interesting given how it mixed in with the surrounding area so seamlessly.
The Green Space
I would never have thought that an area of any town where the business community was so prevalent would also be home to so much nature and open space, but that is exactly what's happening in East Memphis. There are two public gardens within a few minutes of each other on foot, and I made sure to spend time at both of them. These gardens were obviously beautiful, but they were also there to cater to people of all ages. I saw as many people of retirement age as I did children, and that's not all that common in these settings.
The Restaurants
As you may expect in a business-driven part of town, there are a lot of options for food in East Memphis. I chose, of all things, an Asian restaurant as I had been told earlier in the day that it was worth the wait for a table. The wait wasn't that long, and the Chinese food I had there was incredible. I had never tasted Szechuan food so scrumptious before. It was spicy as expected, but not so overly spicy that you couldn't enjoy the rest of the ingredients.
