HotelTonight – Midtown Memphis Hotels Just for You
Memphis, Tennessee is the ultimate city of layers. It has traditions that are still sacred to this day and that have been for generations. It has an artistic history that is difficult for any city in the world to match. It is also modern and forward-looking when it comes to things like its business community and even parts of its culture. In short, it's a fascinating place that is always worth the time and effort to visit. I have thought so for some time now, and that's why I've been making it a point to see more of this lovely place at every opportunity. Thankfully, my job has been sending me to Memphis regularly, so I've been following a plan to explore it to my satisfaction. On every trip, I extend my return flight out by 24 hours. Then I choose one neighborhood in which to spend my time so I can get a real feel for what things are like there. For my last trip, I chose to visit Midtown Memphis. As far as lodging is concerned, I just use the HotelTonight app--it will find me a Midtown Memphis hotel room in seconds when I'm ready to call it a night.
The Melting Pot
As I mentioned above, Memphis is in many ways something for everyone. Midtown Memphis is a snapshot of that notion, as you'll find everything here from people who are as affluent as you'll ever see to those who frankly struggle to get by. You'll see people whose ancestors came here from Europe, Asia, Africa and of course many whose ancestors never came from anywhere. Basically, this is an incredible melting pot of all different backgrounds, ethnicities and the like. What's notable about that is that everyone seems to feel a sense of belonging to the community.
The Shopping
I've never been a huge fan of shopping, but I couldn't resist during my day in Midtown Memphis. There is an entire district in Midtown that's dedicated to antiques and vintage goods. I love that type of shopping, as long as it's low-stress, and this definitely was that. I strolled the area for hours, browsing several stores and spending a lot of time picking out a few things that will add a nice look to my home. I also got to talk to a lot of nice people along the way.
The Food
After all of that walking and talking, I was not only hungry but had a lot of information on where I should eat dinner. I felt like a pizza, and I heard about a place nearby that had been a big hit with the locals for a long time. I gave it a try, and it was delicious. I love wood-fired pizza, as it has a flavor that I instantly recognize as opposed to simply heating something in a pizza oven. The sauce was perfectly tangy and the cheese was of the highest quality.
