HotelTonight – Book Your Hotel in Thermopolis Wyoming
There's a good reason why the town of Thermopolis got its name – "Thermopolis" is Greek for "Hot City," and there's certainly a lot of heat in this Wyoming town. Famous for its natural hot springs, Thermopolis is quite a popular vacation destination for those looking to bask in the healing powers of the mineral springs, enjoy the great outdoors and relax in one of the most beautiful states in the country. I recently had a craving to escape the city and immerse myself in nature, and since I have heard so many great things about Wyoming, I decided to book a last-minute hotel in Thermopolis, Wyoming for a spur-of-the-moment getaway. I was so glad I took the leap and embarked on a spontaneous trip, because my weekend getaway to Thermopolis ended up being one of my favorite weekends of the entire year, and I had HotelTonight to thank for making it so easy to find great last-minute hotel deals.
Hot Springs
Without a doubt, Thermopolis is best known for its natural hot springs. Thermopolis is home to Hot Springs State Park, which is a popular spot among both visitors and locals. This state park offers a large, free hot spring called the Free Bath House, but soaking in the hot springs isn't all there is to do or see in the park. You can also see wild bison herds and the beautiful Rainbow Terrace waterfalls. This park is full of natural wonders, and you definitely shouldn't miss it when you're in Thermopolis.
Yellowstone
Thermopolis is a popular pit stop for travelers en route to Yellowstone National Park. This national park deserves more than just one day, which is why I felt like I didn't see nearly as much as I wanted to during my Yellowstone trip. There's just so much to see in Yellowstone, from the famous geyser Old Faithful to the Yellowstone Grand Canyon. This national park is just overflowing with majestic natural sites.
Historic Downtown
There's more to Thermopolis than just the great outdoors. The downtown district of Thermopolis is full of charm and energy, and since it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it's also full of history. Many of the buildings in the district were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and today the historic streets of Broadway, Main and Fifth are filled with shops and restaurants, so you'll definitely want to pop into downtown during your stay in Thermopolis.

This town's main attraction may be its hot springs, but I discovered so much more to love about Thermopolis. The people are friendly and welcoming, the town itself is full of charm, and there is a fantastic array of outdoor sports and activities to enjoy in the area. If you come for the hot springs (like many people do), you'll likely stay for the charm and warm atmosphere of the town. I'm already hoping to return to Thermopolis sometime in the near future, and when I do, I'll definitely book my Thermopolis hotel through HotelTonight.
