HotelTonight – Green Bay Airport Hotels are Available
There are few things more frustrating than being stuck at an airport for an extended period of time. Your schedule is completely annihilated, your stress levels tend to rise exponentially as you try to make new arrangements and the uncertainty of it all can get on anyone's nerves. This happened to me recently when a stopover in Green Bay turned into an overnight affair. I landed in Green Bay at around 2 p.m., but there was some sort of mechanical problem with my plane and the flight was canceled until the next morning. I decided at that point that I wasn't going to just sit in the terminal and hope to find another flight on standby. Instead, I did what I could to make a day out of it. Fortunately, the last thing I was worried about was lodging, as I always travel with HotelTonight. My favorite travel companion app would help me find a Green Bay airport hotel in a matter of minutes. I found one right away that was just across the street. I checked in easily, dropped my things in my nice room and headed out to see a bit of the area.
The Proximity
Many people who have never been to Green Bay assume that it is a relatively large city. That's because of the famed Green Bay Packers, who have called the city home for 100 years now. However, Green Bay itself is only home to around 100,000 people. That's a nice thing for visitors because it means you can get to just about any point of interest in town in fewer than 15 minutes. The airport is outside of town on Green Bay's west side, but I took a ride share vehicle downtown and it was a short drive.
The River
For generations, the Fox River, which runs directly through Green Bay, was anything but pleasurable. Along its banks sat countless factories, foundries and other industrial concerns, and coal piles were prevalent. In recent years, the city has been working tirelessly to develop the riverfront areas in town, and they've done a tremendous job. There are now pubs, restaurants, shops and even a pleasant hiking/bicycling trail that runs directly along the water. The transformation has been remarkable, and I stopped in at a pub for a minute, gazing out over the water before taking a walk along the banks of the Fox River.
The Dining
Green Bay, for a relatively small city, has a lot to offer in terms of dining options. I chose to eat at an Irish place that a local had told me was very good. Its feel was very European, which was nice, and the food was tremendous. I had, of course, the corned beef, and it was so tender I hardly even had to chew my food. I had a nice pint of Irish beer to go with it and sat and talked to a few patrons for a while before deciding it was time to head back.

I dialed up another ride share and waited outside on a very nice evening. Once again, I was less than 15 minutes away from my room. It had been a frustrating afternoon, but thanks to HotelTonight I had made the most of it.
