HotelTonight – Hotels in Pullman Washington
Nestled among rolling green hills and bright golden wheat fields, the city of Pullman truly is an idyllic town. Its old red brick buildings and lovely little downtown only add to the charm of the city, and after spending just a few hours in Pullman, I understood why it's regularly ranked on lists about best cities to raise families. Between the warmth of its tight-knit community and the energy of its student population, there's something infectious about Pullman, and I was so glad I had the chance to explore the city in depth during a recent trip to Washington. I ended up booking a last-minute hotel in Pullman through HotelTonight so that I could really get to know this city for myself.
Downtown
Downtown Pullman is the epitome of a charming small town center. The streets are lined with trees and feature beautiful old red brick buildings, which now house great little eateries, shops and other small businesses. This is the heart of the action in Pullman, and the energy is magnetic. Taking a stroll down Main Street in downtown Pullman will give you a glimpse into what life is like in this charming town, and if you're like me, you just might start getting jealous of the locals.
College Hill
Pullman is probably best known as a college town, as it's home to Washington State University. The campus of WSU is located on the historic College Hill, part of which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The campus itself is clean, beautiful and full of historic sites, so I didn't want to travel all the way to Pullman without exploring the WSU campus. I fell in love with the college and its vibrant energy almost instantly, and I could see how so much of Pullman's culture and atmosphere comes from the lively student population.
Parks and Trails
When you live in a place as beautiful as Pullman, chances are you'll want to get outdoors as often as possible. The good news is that Pullman has many excellent trails and parks where locals can enjoy the great outdoors, such as Kamiak Butte County Park, Wawawai County Park and Bill Chipman Palouse Trail. Jogging, hiking and biking through the local trails are quite popular activities among Pullman residents, so I decided to do as the locals do and went for a bike ride in the Palouse, and it allowed me to see the beautiful countryside from a new perspective.
