HotelTonight – Hotel in Monroe Washington Today

Monroe is a city located just 30 miles northeast of Seattle, but it has a completely different culture and atmosphere than this major metropolis. Since it has a population of around 18,000, Monroe offers the perks of a smaller town, such as a tight-knit community and welcoming atmosphere, in addition to the excitement and entertainment of a big city. I originally planned on staying in Monroe just for the day before heading into Seattle, but I found that there was too much to do and see in and around Monroe that one day just wasn't enough. So at the last moment, I booked a hotel in Monroe, Washington through HotelTonight. I always know that I can find great deals on hotels at a moment's notice when I rely on HotelTonight, and it proved me right yet again on my recent trip to Monroe. With my hotel room booked, I set out to explore more of Monroe for myself.

With its old red brick buildings and small businesses, downtown Monroe is truly a treat to explore. While it's certainly small, it still has a lot to offer. Many people travel to Monroe to enjoy the beautiful lakes in the area. Popular lakes nearby Monroe include Lake Roesiger, Lake Tye Park and the Snohomish County Lakes. The abundance of lakes in the area means that it's a hotspot for fishing, water skiing, and wake-boarding and other water sports. Of course, if you come in summer, you'll have to ditch the water sports for the snow sports, as there is some top-notch skiing in the area.

Sports and Entertainment

Monroe is somewhat of a small city, but it still offers big sources of entertainment, like the Evergreen Speedway. Dubbed the "Super Speedway of the West," the Evergreen Speedway is a historic NASCAR track where you can still catch great motorsports events year-round. Then there's also the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, which host the annual fair that attracts people from all over this region of Washington. And that's not even all – Monroe is also home to a number of theaters and performing arts centers, so this small city certainly has its fair share of entertainment options.
