HotelTonight – Quality Greensboro Hotels in Clicks

The people closest to me know that I'm always up for a spontaneous adventure, which is why I immediately said "yes" to an impromptu trip to Greensboro, North Carolina. I was in Charlotte for my cousin's wedding when my sister and I decided to make an entire vacation out of the week by checking out Greensboro, a charming city located in the heartland of North Carolina. I didn't know much about Greensboro, but since I rarely say no to a chance to explore new places, I pulled up HotelTonight's website and booked a last-minute hotel in Greensboro for that very night.

Within the hour, we were driving from Charlotte to Greensboro, and we already had our hotel room waiting for us thanks to HotelTonight. The drive took about an hour and a half, but the time passed quickly because of the gorgeous natural scenery all surrounding the freeways. As soon as we arrived in Greensboro, we realized just how aptly the city is named--it boasts beautiful greenery around every corner. We quickly checked into the hotel and then headed outside to explore the beautiful city of Greensboro.

Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden

This lush, colorful public garden is open to anyone and everyone living in or visiting Greensboro, which is why it's such a beloved spot among locals. After all, the garden features 7.5 acres of spectacular landscapes and vibrant flowers, so it's the perfect place for a peaceful stroll, a romantic date, or even a small picnic during the warmer months. Since admission is free, the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden makes it easy to pop in whenever you have some free time. Visiting this dreamy public garden was the best way to start off our day in Greensboro.

Old Greensborough

Old Greensborough is located in downtown Greensboro, and this historic district is full of charm and character. While wandering these quaint streets is fun in itself, there's also plenty to do and see in this small neighborhood. Old Greensborough is home to dozens of boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. We grabbed lunch at one of the cute eateries in the heart of historic downtown Greensboro, and by the end of our time in this district we had gotten a great sense of the friendly, welcoming atmosphere of this community.

Antique Market Place

If you're an avid shopper like I am, you would love Greensboro's Antique Market Place. This popular shopping center in Greensboro is a massive mall dedicated solely to antiques. There are over 120 antique dealers in this 45,000 square foot space, making it one of the most incredible antique shopping experiences I've ever had. Just wandering through the Antique Market Place was like embarking on a treasure hunt, because you never know what interesting old treasures you may stumble upon in here.

Charles Aycock

This area is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Greensboro, as it provides the perfect mix of peaceful, bucolic residential streets and trendy bars and restaurants. Close to downtown, Aycock still has a bit of an urban feel, which is why it's a popular neighborhood for young professionals and creative types. We wandered up and down Summit Avenue, which is lined with bars and restaurants, until we finally picked a restaurant and indulged in some good Southern cooking.

Gateway Gardens

When we checked out of our hotel in the morning, we felt sad that we had to leave the charming town of Greensboro so soon. On our way out of the city, though, we managed to make one last stop. We popped into the Gateway Gardens, an 11-acre public park located at the entryway in the city. This garden is a horticultural oasis in the middle of North Carolina, and it is comprised of several smaller gardens. We noticed that this public spot is particularly popular among families with young children, as there are many interactive elements to the garden that children love. Visiting this beautiful garden was a great way to wrap up our quick, spontaneous trip to Greensboro, North Carolina.

HotelTonight – Greensboro

During my time in North Carolina, I fell in love with this picturesque Southern state. Not only were the people warm and welcoming, but also the city of Greensboro was delightful and picturesque. I was glad that my sister and I were able to make our impromptu trip work, and we have HotelTonight to thank for making it so easy to find great deals on last-minute hotels. For people who love spur-of-the-moment getaways, like myself, HotelTonight provides a great service that makes traveling so much more fun and so much less stressful. While we certainly weren't able to explore all of Greensboro in just one day, we were able to get a good feel for this North Carolina town by exploring the city with the mindset of a local.
