HotelTonight – Downtown Baltimore Hotels Just for You

Baltimore, Maryland is a city that means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For the hundreds of thousands of people who live there and the thousands more who live in nearby communities, it's home, but it's also a source of pride. For visitors who flock to the Charm City every year to see the sights and to sample the cuisine, Baltimore is an escape that recharges their batteries. For me, Baltimore has always been a place that I enjoyed visiting for several reasons. We had family that lived there when I was a child, so I always wanted to go back and spend time there. While I had been doing so, it was unfortunate that I was always there for work and never had much time for myself. On my last trip, my return flight was delayed for 24 hours, so I decided to spend that time exploring downtown. I wasn't worried about finding lodging. I travel with my HotelTonight app. It would find me a downtown Baltimore hotel as soon as I was ready to call it a day.

The Transformation

For years, this part of Baltimore actually fell on some hard times. It was seen as a sometimes-dangerous place to be by locals. Fortunately, that's all been changing in recent years, as there has been a lot of reinvestment and redevelopment into the area. You can see new buildings being built and old ones being updated tastefully. You can see infrastructure being updated and new businesses opening their doors. You see young professionals running around and doing their thing. I also noticed new restaurants and other entertainment-related businesses dotting the landscape. Downtown Baltimore is coming back in a big way.

The Shopping

One industry that tends to sprout to life when an area is on the upswing is the retail industry. That's also an industry that I noticed as being on a growth spurt in downtown Baltimore. There were quite a few different shops and boutiques there, and I think I browsed through all of them. It was interesting to see how the different shop owners incorporated their personalities into their items. I found gorgeous vintage clothing, knickknacks from several other countries and photography from just about every corner of the map.

The Restaurants

I have to admit that I'm a sucker for a really nice steak. I heard about a local place that was extremely popular with the locals, and I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The steak was thick and meaty, but it had enough delicious and partially rendered fat on it to give it that smoky, scrumptious flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes that came with it were also delicious. I ate hungrily and enjoyed the wine that was matched with it.

HotelTonight – Downtown Baltimore Hotels

After such a fun day, I was ready to call it a night. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a downtown Baltimore hotel room in seconds. I made my way to my hotel and fell immediately asleep, feeling reconnected with Baltimore.
