HotelTonight – Book Bardstown Hotels at the Drop of a Hat
Recently during a visit to Louisville for a business trip, I found myself with an extra day, after I was able to wrap up things quickly for work. Instead of heading home, I decided to enjoy the day with a trip to nearby Bardstown. I always love being able to explore small towns and thought Bardstown seemed like a great place to spend the day. I knew finding a place to stay in town wouldn't be a problem thanks to the HotelTonight app.
The Area
Bardstown is located in central Kentucky and is known as the "Bourbon Capital of the World." The town is the county seat of Nelson County and is one of the oldest cities in Kentucky. There are a number of really cool historical sights in town and it also is surrounded by beautiful scenery. The Beech Fork river is near the city, and the town is also near a number of hiking trails. I was so excited to spend a day in Bardstown and couldn't wait to get started exploring the city. I could tell, as soon as I pulled into town, that I was going to have a great day.
Things to Do
One of the first things I noticed in Bardstown was that it's home to two distilleries. I decided to start my day off with a tour of one of the distilleries. It was a fun experience and also pretty informative. After that I headed to a Civil War museum. I loved seeing the historical items at the museum and learning about how the Civil War impacted Kentucky. There were a lot of other things to do in town that I didn't have time to experience. I might have to make another trip to Bardstown soon.
The Food
Whenever I visit a new place I like to find out where the locals go to eat. So I asked around and heard a lot of good things about a great restaurant that was located in a basement in town. The restaurant had a really cool atmosphere and everything on the menu looked delicious. I ordered a steak that came with a baked potato. The steak was perfectly cooked and so tender and juicy. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'll make sure to eat here again the next time I find myself in the area.

After dinner, I was feeling tired and was ready to relax.
