Recently I was making a love drive to visit some family in the Midwest and had the chance to spend a day in the town of Dubuque. I had been driving for hours and needed a break, so I pulled of the highway in Dubuque and made the decision to spend the day in town. I knew finding a place to stay wouldn't be a problem thanks to the HotelTonight app, which left me free to enjoy the day in Dubuque.
The Area
Located in Northeastern Iowa Dubuque is the county seat of Dubuque County and lies on the banks of the Mississippi River near the borders of Illinois and Wisconsin. The town is one of the most exciting places in the area and is filled with a number of great things to see and do. Unlike much of Iowa Dubuque has several hills which give the town a unique feel that is different from much of the state. I'd never been to the city before, but I knew I was going to have a great day as soon as I pulled into town.
Things to Do
One of the reasons I wanted decided to stop in Dubuque was because of the Mines of Spain Recreation Area. I'd heard about it before from some friends and wanted to check it out. It was just as cool as I'd heard. The area is so beautiful and has a lot of hiking trails and interesting things to see. Then, I headed back into town and checked out a cool exhibit called Art on the River and was able to see some really cool sculptures, as I enjoyed the beautiful scenery near the river.
The Food
After I finished walking around the river, I was feeling hungry and wanted to get something to eat. Whenever I visit a new town I like to ask the locals where the best place to eat is. Several people suggested I head to the Brazen Open Kitchen. As soon I arrived I could see why so many people suggested it. The place has a really great atmosphere and is located in an older building that gives it a very trendy feel. I ordered the rib-eye and it was easily one of the best meals I've ever had. The food was perfectly prepared, and the service was great as well. I'll make sure to tell anyone passing through Dubuque to eat there.

When I'd finished dinner, I was feeling tired and was ready to relax for the night. I opened up the HotelTonight app and, within a few minutes, I was able to easily book a great room in town.
