HotelTonight – Paso Robles San Luis Obispo Hotels
If you consider yourself a bit of a wino, you likely already know a bit about Paso Robles. Located just north of San Luis Obispo, this central California region is famous for its wine. In fact, some of the best-rated wine in the entire country is made in Paso Robles, so it's a mecca for any wine lover. Just like most of the other visitors to Paso Robles, I chose to visit this region for the wine. Since my trip was rather spur-of-the-moment, I booked a last-minute hotel through HotelTonight. I can always rely on HotelTonight to help me find great deals on hotels at a moment's notice, and I was able to book a charming Paso Robles hotel thanks to my HotelTonight app. With a hotel room waiting for me in Paso, I packed my bags and headed off to the Central Coast.
Wineries
Everywhere you go in Paso Robles, you'll find rolling hills and sprawling fields filled with vines. This is wine country, and wine reigns supreme. In Paso, there are over 200 wineries, most of which are family owned and operated, which creates a much more intimate feel than, say, Napa Valley. There are also more than 40 grape varietals grown in the region, so there's a type of wine for everyone. Whether you like Syrah or Sauvignon Blanc, you'll find something to excite you on your wine tour of Paso Robles.
Downtown
Paso Robles isn't all wineries – there's also a lovely downtown where you can shop, eat and sip more wine at the local tasting rooms. Downtown Paso Robles is a charming neighborhood where you'll encounter locals as well as other visitors, and there's a very relaxed, laidback feel. It's the perfect place to unwind and socialize after a long day of wine tasting, and it's also a great area to stay during your Paso Robles getaway, since it's so central to everything in the region.
Hiking
The Central Coast is overflowing with beautiful hiking trails, which is one of the reasons why it's such a desirable place to live. Paso Robles is no different. There are a number of great public outdoor spaces and hiking trails nearby, such as the Salinas River Trail and the Centennial Park Trail, which are used frequently by locals. After a full day of wine tasting, I decided to take the next day easy, so I headed out onto the hiking trails to enjoy some of the stunning Central Coast scenery.
