HotelTonight – Bodega Bay, California Hotels Near You

I travel up and down the West Coast of the United States for work constantly. Every point between Seattle and San Diego has something to offer a traveler. Unfortunately, I rarely have any time to explore, so I'm stuck trying to find ways to see more of the actual coastline whenever possible. I'm convinced at this point that a person could drive up the coast of California from one border to the other, spend months doing it and never get bored. Every little nook and cranny is a lovely sight indeed. Recently, I even got to spend 24 hours exploring a specific place on my own time. I was traveling to meetings when I got the call that they had been canceled due to an illness. I had the rest of the day to do with as I pleased. I decided to take a closer look at a community called Bodega Bay. I wasn't concerned about finding a place to stay, as I travel with my HotelTonight app. I'd book a Bodega Bay hotel room as soon as my day was complete, and I was ready to get some sleep.

The Hiking

Given the rocky coast and nearby water, it was pretty easy to find places to enjoy the scenery. I wanted to do so in an active way, and fortunately for me there were a lot of different hiking paths from which to choose. I decided to jump on a path that took me directly around the bay in the shape of a loop. I couldn't wait to see the water, the coast and all of the grasslands that surrounded the area. I spent hours hiking the 3 miles of pathway, probably taking over 100 pictures in the process and talking to some other folks who were out there.

Downtown

It seems strange to talk about a downtown area in a community of approximately 1,000 people, but there is a central point to Bodega Bay and it's lovely. I found it to be akin to a combination of a seaside town from New England that was placed in the landscape of the midway point of the coast of California. In other words, quaint buildings surrounded by green mountains and a stunning view of the coastline. The people milling about downtown were all extremely friendly and offered helpful answers to my questions.

The Dining

Given the city's proximity to water, it came as no surprise that there were a lot of different options available for seafood. That was fine by me, as I love seafood and was starving. I found a local place that was anything but fancy, and you sit on picnic tables and eat from plastic bins if you so choose. I so chose, and I'm glad I did. The fresh, local crab was something to behold, and the folks that prepared it knew exactly what they were doing. I had a nice fish sandwich to go with it and was happy with my experience.

I was full and happily tired from my excursion that day. It was time to rest. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Bodega Bay hotel room in seconds. I got there in minutes and basically fell asleep in about the same amount of time. I couldn't wait for my next exploring opportunity to arise.
