HotelTonight – Arkadelphia Arkansas Hotels at a Glance
Nestled into the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains is the small town of Arkadelphia, a quaint little community that loves the great outdoors, its laidback atmosphere and, of course, high school football. Since I have lived in big cities my entire life, I never really knew what to expect from a small town like Arkadelphia, which is part of the reason I decided to visit. I wanted to know what life in a small town in Arkansas was really like, so I decided to make my vision of this spontaneous trip a reality and I booked a last-minute Arkadelphia hotel through HotelTonight. I know I can always find great deals on hotels through the HotelTonight app on my phone, so planning a spur-of-the-moment getaway has never been easier. Once I had my Arkadelphia hotel booked, I packed my bags and got ready to experience life in a small town.
Historic District
I quickly discovered that the center of activity in Arkadelphia is the commercial historic district, also known as downtown. This neighborhood is comprised of quaint old brick buildings and idyllic storefronts, and walking through the historic district will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. I loved the laidback, easygoing vibes of the locals, as well as the great selection of food and unique specialty shops in the downtown area.
Parks and Lakes
Arkadelphia is a terrific place to explore the great outdoors. Nearby, you'll find mountains, forests and lakes, so you can enjoy a variety of different natural settings and outdoors recreation while you're in Arkadelphia. I chose to visit DeGray Lake during my stay, and one of the highlights of my trip was joining the locals out on the 13,800-acre lake for a bit of fishing. Other parks and lakes around Arkadelphia include the Iron Mountain Recreation Area and the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park.
Arts and Culture
Even though Arkadelphia is a very small town, it still has an impressive offering of arts and culture. There's the Arkadelphia Arts Center, the Arkadelphia Mural and the Ouachita Baptist University Jones Performing Arts Center, among others. I didn't expect Arkadelphia locals to be so proud of their arts scene, but I could tell that arts, entertainment and culture were actually very important to locals, which just made me love this small Arkansas town even more.
