HotelTonight – Last-Minute Hotels in Port Angeles Washington

Port Angeles is a pretty seaside town in the northwestern part of Washington, and it offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Olympic Mountains on the other. Since Port Angeles sits in the "rain shadow" of the Olympic Mountains, the city actually experiences far less rain than most cities in the Pacific Northwest, which is one of the many reasons why locals love living here. They get to enjoy all of the breathtaking natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest without the typical gloom and rain. This is also one of the reasons I chose to visit Port Angeles. I wanted to escape the city for the weekend and head to a place where I could enjoy the great outdoors and a bit of sunshine, so I decided on Port Angeles. To find a great hotel in Port Angeles, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone. Minutes later, I had a lovely hotel room waiting for me in the heart of downtown Port Angeles.

Downtown

Port Angeles' slogan for their downtown is, "Everything is Waiting for You Downtown" – and it's true. Everything you are looking for in a small seaside village can be found downtown, including great seafood restaurants, locally owned gift shops, and even entertainment and cultural events. Since I stayed in downtown Port Angeles, I was able to walk to the best restaurants and shops in the city.

The Harbor

Port Angeles gets its name from the port, which is why you can't visit this city without visiting its harbor and enjoying its waterfront. The harbor features two marinas, seven marine terminals and even a public boat yard, so it's a fascinating place to visit. Plus, during the warmer months, you can head out into the marina and go kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and boating.

Olympic National Park

Given its ideal location on the Olympic Peninsula, Port Angeles is a great home base for exploring the Olympic National Park. This gorgeous national park and forest encompasses nearly a million acres, so there's certainly too much to see in one or even two trips, but I tried to explore as much of the park as I could during my day trip from Port Angeles. The city of Port Angeles is surrounded by so much natural beauty that it took my breath away time and time again, and I felt so lucky to be able to experience it all, if only for a weekend.
