HotelTonight – Lakewood Washington Hotels

Lakewood is a suburb of Tacoma, Washington, and is often considered the "playground" of the region, since it offers so many great outdoor activities. Both residents of Tacoma and of Lakewood enjoy the area's natural beauty and its parks, golf courses and, of course, lakes. There's so much to do and see around Lakewood that it's no wonder why Lakewood is considered such a desirable place to live in the state of Washington. I was only in town for two days, but I felt like I barely scratched the surface of Lakewood's attractions. I did, however, get a great feel for the community, and I could tell that residents really loved where they lived. But who wouldn't love living in such a beautiful place? I was just glad that I had the chance to visit Lakewood at all, and my travel plans wouldn't have been possible without HotelTonight, which always helps me find great deals on last-minute hotels wherever and whenever I travel.

Lakes

Lakewood earned its name for a reason – there are many beautiful lakes in the area. With a total of five lakes in and around Lakewood, you can enjoy any water sport imaginable in the area, from water skiing and wake-boarding to fishing and rowing. I asked locals which lakes they'd recommend I visit while in town, and they suggested the American Lake and Lake Steilacoom, both of which were beautiful lakes that offered plenty of fun activities for me to enjoy.

Recreation

Lakewood is all about recreation, particularly outdoor recreation. It's especially popular for its golf courses, and people travel from all over the Tacoma area to golf in Lakewood. There are four major golf courses in the area, all of which are meticulously maintained. If golf isn't your thing, don't worry – there's plenty of other outdoor recreation to enjoy while in Lakewood. From hiking and mountain biking to skiing and boating, there's something for every outdoor lover in this city.

Mount Rainier

Lakewood is a gateway to Mount Rainier, one of the most beautiful mountains in the entire country. Rainier also happens to be an active volcano, so it's certainly one of the most interesting sights in the state of Washington. Mount Rainier National Park is definitely a place worth visiting when you're in the area, as there's no shortage of gorgeous scenery and outdoor activities, and I spent an entire day exploring the mountain, but I could have easily spent two or three days at Mount Rainier.

HotelTonight – Last-Minute Hotels in Lakewood

Given its proximity to Tacoma, Lakewood should be a much more popular destination, in my opinion. There is so much to do and see in the area, you'll definitely never be bored if you stay in Lakewood. Plus, it's just a short drive from downtown Tacoma, so some of the best shopping, dining and entertainment in the state is minutes away. I loved Lakewood so much that I'll probably return someday, and when I do, I'll be sure to book my next Lakewood hotel through HotelTonight once again.
