HotelTonight – Woodburn, Oregon Hotels Are Available

I drive from Seattle to San Diego on Interstate 5, and I stop in just about every city along the way for work. I should say I stop in just about every big city, as I'm one of the many people who zooms past smaller cities and towns on the interstate without giving them much thought. That all started to change recently. Maybe it's because I've been on the road for so long that my thoughts naturally drifted to this topic, but I began wondering what life was like in some of these smaller communities. The most time I've ever spent in any of them was just long enough to fill a gas tank or my stomach along the highway, but I wanted to explore some of these places on a much deeper level. On my last business trip, just as I got through Portland headed south, I got a call that my meetings in Eugene the next day were canceled. Now was my chance to stop and see one of these communities. Woodburn was the city I saw on the next sign, so that's where I was going to stop. I'd book a Woodburn hotel room with my HotelTonight app later that night.

The Community

Woodburn is actually a bit bigger than many of those roadside towns you pass in your car on your way to a different city. There are around 25,000 people living there, so there's quite a bit of life to the area. Downtown Woodburn is almost Rockwellian. The buildings are all quite old but very tasteful and well-maintained, the streets are clean and orderly and the people are all seemingly familiar with each other and friendly. I walked around and talked to some folks all morning, and everyone was happy to give me whatever information I wanted.

Little Mexico

I did not expect to see a place called Little Mexico when I pulled into Woodburn, but there it was, an entire district in town is made up of Mexican shops and restaurants. It was a great place to explore, and I enjoyed shopping and chatting to the shop owners to learn about the area's history.

The Dining

Of course, after seeing this, I had to have Mexican food for dinner. I asked a person where I could find a nice carnitas plate, and they told me about a place that was known for just that. The decor in the restaurant really did give me the feeling of Mexico, and the food was outstanding. The carnitas had been cooked for a long time on low heat, as it fell apart on my fork. The beans had a lot of flavor and the tortillas were obviously prepared the same day on location.

HotelTonight – Woodburn, Oregon Hotels

After such a filling meal, I was ready to call it a night. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Woodburn, Oregon hotel room in seconds. I couldn't wait to get some sleep, happy that I had finally seen one of those lovely roadside communities.
