I like to think I'm a pretty well rounded traveler. Sometimes, I'll spend my days visiting museums and monuments, but other days all I want to do is enjoy the great outdoors. So when I heard about Oklahoma City's Boathouse District, I was thrilled. This riverfront district is a haven for outdoor lovers, and if you want to enjoy the sunshine and an adrenaline rush while visiting Oklahoma City, you'll definitely want to carve out some time for the Boathouse District. After hearing several locals rave about the Boathouse District, I decided I wanted to book a hotel in the area. Water Sports
The Boathouse District is situated along the Oklahoma River, which means there's no shortage of water activities to enjoy. Whether you want to go white water rafting, kayaking, rowing or tubing, you will find plenty to keep you entertained and excited in the Boathouse District. I love water activities, and if I had the time, I would have spent all day testing out the various water sports in the Boathouse District. However, my time was limited, so I had to choose just one water activity--white water rafting. I hopped into a raft with a mix of locals and visitors, and we braved the rapids together. It was easily the highlight of my stay in Oklahoma City.
Outdoor Adventures
After enjoying some fun on the water, I decided to experience my next adventure on land. The Boathouse District offers a great selection of outdoor recreation, from zip lines and climbing walls to slides and a multi-level adventure course. It may sound like these activities are just for kids, but trust me, this recreation center is great fun for all ages. In all my travels, I've never seen a recreation area quite like the Boathouse District, and it made me fall in love with Oklahoma City even more.
Regatta Park
Locals may not hit the rapids every day, but they do take advantage of Regatta Park, which features great walking, running, and biking trails. If I lived in Oklahoma City, Regatta Park and the Boathouse District would be one of my favorite areas of the city, since it's a great spot to enjoy open, natural spaces and outdoor activities. If you want to get active in Oklahoma City, you'll definitely want to check out the Boathouse District.

I only had a couple of days to explore Oklahoma City, which certainly isn't enough time to see all of the eclectic neighborhoods of this diverse city. I already know I want to return to Oklahoma City one day, and when I do, I'll definitely return to the Boathouse District, which is one of the coolest spots in the city, in my opinion.
