HotelTonight – Find Great Buffalo Hotels in Minutes

Located right across Lake Erie from Canada, Buffalo is one of the most unique cities in the U.S. Buffalo, New York is one of the northernmost cities in the country, and it's best known as a home base for Niagara Falls vacations, incredible Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and rich Polish and German culture. This lovely city certainly isn't the most popular tourist destination in the state of New York (we're looking at you, New York City), but it should absolutely be on every traveler's list. I finally had the chance to explore Buffalo on a recent trip to New York, and I fell in love with this beautiful town and its rich history and culture. To make my Buffalo getaway perfect, I relied on HotelTonight to book a great last-minute Buffalo hotel. Whenever and wherever I travel, I always know that I can find terrific deals on hotels with my HotelTonight app, which makes taking spur-of-the-moment trips like my Buffalo vacation so easy and fun.

Erie Basin Marina

When you visit Buffalo, expect to spend a lot of time around water. The city is located on the banks of Lake Erie, after all, which is one of the more stunning lakes I've ever seen. One of the most popular waterfront spots in Buffalo is the Erie Basin Marina, located on the downtown waterfront. This marina features a lovely waterfront path, parks and gardens, an observation tower and restaurants. It's a great place for a morning run, an afternoon stroll, or just a quick photo op of the beautiful Buffalo waterfront.

Elmwood Village

I like to explore new cities as if I were a local, which is why I try to veer off the beaten tourist path every so often. That's what landed me in Elmwood Village, a vibrant neighborhood located in central Buffalo that is one of the most popular spots for you, hip locals to live. Elmwood features over 300 shops, eateries and cafes, so it's the perfect place to be if you're craving either a good shopping spree or a good meal. My favorite part about the village, though, was its modern, creative energy mixed with its beautiful historic buildings.

Larkin Square

I asked a few Buffalo locals for recommendations of what to do and see in their city, and several pointed me toward Larkin Square, a new neighborhood hub located in the Larkinville district. Once the site of an old soap company warehouse, Lark Square is now an epicenter for entertainment and the arts. I was lucky enough to be in town on a Tuesday, where around 40 food trucks parked in Larkin Square and attracted a huge crowd of locals to socialize, enjoy the great weather, and sample lots of delicious food.

Niagara Falls

I couldn't travel all the way to Buffalo without making a quick day trip to Niagara Falls. After all, I had never been to Niagara Falls before, and I wanted to see the sheer force of nature's power for myself. Visiting Niagara Falls is a bucket-list item for many, so I felt lucky just to be able to visit. From Buffalo, Niagara Falls is just a quick drive away, but my trip ended up taking most of the day, simply because I couldn't stop staring at the incredible, massive falls that have become so iconic. Visiting Niagara Falls was one of those breathtaking, memorable travel experiences you only have once in a blue moon.

The Wine Trail

When you think of Buffalo, New York, you probably don't think of wine. It's okay – I didn't either until my recent visit. It turns out that the Niagara Wine Trail is actually quite a famous region, and it's best known for its ice wine, which is brewed using grapes that are still frozen on the vine. I have explored many wine regions over the course of my travels, from Sonoma to Tuscany, so I knew I couldn't leave Buffalo without venturing into the local wine region. Ultimately, I was pleasantly surprised by the Niagara Falls Wine Trail, which boasts picturesque wine country and interesting wines.

HotelTonight – You'll Love These Buffalo Hotels

Buffalo, New York isn't at the top of most travelers' bucket lists, which is a shame, in my opinion. The city and the surrounding region are beautiful and interesting, and there's so much to do in Buffalo that it's hard to ever be bored. I was so grateful I had the time and the opportunity to visit Buffalo on my recent New York trip, and all of my Buffalo adventures wouldn't have been possible without HotelTonight. My handy HotelTonight app made it so easy for me to find a great hotel in Buffalo that I was able to spend less time stressing about locking down accommodation and more time planning the quintessential Buffalo trip. It was certainly a trip for the books, and I wouldn't hesitate to return to Buffalo in the future.
