HotelTonight – Waterville Valley Hotels for Your Mountain Getaway

Waterville Valley is like an outdoor playground. Year-round, this four-season resort town is bustling with people eager to get outdoors and soak in the beautiful natural scenery. And, of course, many Waterville Valley visitors are looking for ways to get their hearts pumping and their adrenaline flowing. This resort town is a huge draw for skiers, for hikers and for anyone who loves the great outdoors. I had heard a lot about Waterville Valley from friends prior to visiting, but the actual reality of this magical mountain oasis blew all of my expectations out of the water. This resort town was so much more than I could ever hope for, and there was no shortage of activities to join in on during my mini mountain retreat. As soon as I booked my Waterville Valley hotel through HotelTonight, I knew I was going to have an unforgettable weekend – and I certainly did. And I was never bored a single minute.

Town Square

Town Square is Waterville Valley's village center. Tucked into the valley floor, Town Square boats stunning 360-degree views of the alpine peaks and the sparkling Corcoran Pond. This village center is where you'll find several restaurants, shops and services that will come in handy during your stay (such as grocery stores, a post office and a shuttle stop). I spent a lot of time in the Town Square during my time in Waterville Valley, and I probably would have spent even more time here if I had visited in the summer months versus the winter months. In the summer, visitors can rent kayaks and head out on the water or even groove to some live music during one of the many outdoor concerts.

Skiing

The main reason I visited Waterville Valley was to enjoy some premier skiing, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The quality of the snow, the trails and the resort in general was better than anything I could have hoped for, and it was certainly some of the best skiing I've ever experienced. Skiing isn't the only activity offered in the winter at Waterville Valley, however. Visitors can also enjoy Nordic skiing, tubing and fat biking (riding through snow trails on special bikes). There's no reason to be bored in Waterville Valley at any time of the year, because there's always so much to do.

The Athletic Club

The White Mountain Athletic Club is open year-round, and it's one of the coolest parts of the resort. This massive recreational facility provides locals and visitors with a large offering of sport courts, steam rooms, pools, fitness classes and more. I spent most of an afternoon playing and relaxing at the Athletic Club, and by the end of the day, I was wiped out. I loved that even though it was below freezing outside, I was still able to play tennis, sauna, and take a dip in the pool at this indoor recreational facility.

Mount Tecumseh

Mount Tecumseh is the reason Waterville Valley exists. Without this beautiful mountain, visitors wouldn't flock to this resort town year-round. There's so much to do and see on this mountain that I consider it an outdoor playground. When it's warm outside, you can go hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. When there's snow on the ground, you can fly down the slopes on skis or snowboards. Regardless when you visit Mount Tecumseh, there will always be so many fun activities to enjoy that you might just feel like a kid all over again.

Events

Waterville Valley does a great job hosting regular events, many of which take place in the Town Square. There are live concerts, festivals, and fishing tournaments, parades and races. It seems like there is always some type of event going on at Waterville Valley, which only adds to the ambience and the culture of the resort town. It definitely didn't take me long to understand why Waterville Valley locals love living here so much, nor why people from all over the East Coast travel to this alpine village to enjoy the lifestyle and the great outdoors.

My daily life is filled with busy city sidewalks, towering buildings and noisy neighbors. I rarely get a chance to feel at peace with my surroundings, which is why my trip to Waterville Valley was such a refreshing little retreat. Not only did I get to escape to a mountain town that is surrounded by gorgeous natural scenery, but I also got to enjoy some of the best skiing in New England. There's so much to do and see in Waterville Valley that I'm already planning a return trip for the summer, and when I do return, I'll be sure to book my Waterville Valley hotel through HotelTonight.
