HotelTonight – Find Carroll, New Hampshire Hotels in Minutes

Carroll, New Hampshire is a dream destination for outdoors enthusiasts. With gorgeous mountain vistas and wide-open spaces, Carroll provides something for every type of nature lover. When I stumbled upon Carroll, during my New England road trip, I could barely lift my jaw off the ground. Everywhere you turn, there's more breathtaking natural scenery. And, of course, there are countless outdoor activities to enjoy while in Carroll, so I certainly got my fix of fresh mountain air and sunshine. I didn't originally plan to stay in Carroll, but once I discovered just how much there was to do in the area, I knew I had to stay at least another day. So without hesitating, I pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone and booked a last-minute hotel in Carroll, New Hampshire. As soon as I knew I had a place to sleep that night, I grabbed my backpack and set out to explore the beautiful town of Carroll, New Hampshire.

Twin Mountain

One of the main villages in Carroll is Twin Mountain, a tiny little community that provides great access to all of the incredible outdoors in this area of the country. I found that many visitors to Carroll end up staying in Twin Mountain, as there are a handful of hotels in the village. There are also a handful of shops and eateries in the area, so it's a good home base for outdoor adventures. I think I should mention, however, that it's not a bustling village. Twin Mountain is much more quiet and low-key than you might expect, which in my opinion provided the perfect ambience for a nature-filled getaway.

Bretton Woods

Bretton Woods is a popular hub of activity in Carroll. This alpine village is home to some of the best skiing and ski resorts in the state, so it's always packed come winter. Unfortunately, I wasn't visiting Carroll in the winter – I was visiting in early fall. So I didn't get to take advantage of the area's premier skiing. I did, however, get to experience the charm and character of Bretton Woods and the famed Mount Washington Resort. After getting a taste for the lifestyle and culture of Bretton Woods, I already know I'll be planning a return trip in the winter to take advantage of it's incredible skiing.

The White Mountains

Without a doubt, these are the showstoppers in Carroll. The reason why so many people travel to Carroll is to immerse themselves in the beautiful nature of the White Mountains. Visitors ski, snowboard and participate in other snow sports during the winter months, and they hike, mountain bike and rock climb during the summer months. I definitely got in my fair share of hiking, and I was able to really enjoy every moment I spent in this stunning natural setting.

The Wildlife Refuge

I live in a concrete jungle, so I don't get to spend a lot of time outdoors surrounded by nature. That means I also don't see a lot of animals in their natural habitats, so I definitely didn't want to miss the chance to connect with nature while in Carroll. Thus, I visited the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge while in town. I was able to see a number of incredible species in their natural habitats, such as various deer and birds. This wildlife refuge is comprised of forest, wetlands and ponds, so there are so many interesting species you might be able to see during your visit.

Moose Alley

It's not everyday you get to see a moose in the wild, so I made it my mission to see a moose while in Carroll. Fortunately, there are a lot of moose in the area, so spotting one isn't exactly impossible. At the advice of some locals, I decided to visit Moose Alley, one of the most popular stretches in the area for moose sightings. Moose Alley stretches from the Route 3 and I-93 junction to Bartlett Village. This long stretch of protected land is arguably the best place to see a moose, so I drove through Moose Alley with my eyes peeled – and wouldn't you know it? I spotted not one, but two moose on my journey.
