HotelTonight – Streeterville Hotels in Minutes
Whenever I get to go to Chicago, as I do often for work, I get excited. The "Windy City" is a place that seems to fit perfectly with my personality. I've never lived there and only been there for work, but sometimes you just get that feel for a place as I have with Chicago. The only regret I have is that I have never really had an opportunity to explore it for myself. I have always been there for work and then had to fly home immediately. I got an idea before my last trip, and that idea was to book my return flight for 24 hours after my last work obligation. I wanted to see the neighborhood of Streeterville, as I had heard a lot of positive things about it. I wasn't worried about finding a nice place to sleep, either, as I had the HotelTonight app on my phone and would be able to find a Streeterville hotel room in seconds. It was time to explore a bit of Chicago.
The High Rises
I'm pretty sure that if I lived in Streeterville, I'd either have to get used to the high rises or I'd have to find a good chiropractor, as I spent nearly the entire time there looking straight up. That's because this neighborhood is stuffed with skyscrapers from one border of the neighborhood to the other. The buildings are about as high-end as you could imagine, and they are residential. I saw one building with a bank, a restaurant and a clothing boutique all attached to it, so people could literally never leave if they chose not to do so.
The Beach
I should've mentioned that there is at least one little sliver of Streeterville that does not sit under a skyscraper, and that's the Ohio Street Beach. Beaches in Chicago are quite underrated simply because most people not from around there are not aware of them. The Ohio Street Beach is a gorgeous beach on the shore of Lake Michigan, and the sand is extremely white while the people there are all doing very active things. I enjoyed just sitting on the sand and people-watching for a while, content to get some sun while looking out over the blue lake.
The Pubs
Chicago seems to be one of those cities where pubs are part of every neighborhood, and there were quite a few of them in Streeterville. I stopped in for a pint at an Irish pub I saw, and the snacks there were tremendous. Irish nachos are a thing of beauty, served on potato skins with corned beef as a topping. The conversation there was also interesting, as I got to know about city life here in Chicago from a few locals.

Alas, the day had ended and it was time to head to my hotel for a good night of sleep. The only issue with that was that I didn't have a room yet. That was no problem, though, as I logged onto HotelTonight and booked a Streeterville hotel within seconds. It had been a great day, and I looked forward to visiting here again in the future.
