HotelTonight – Atascadero Hotels at the Ready

I'm fortunate with regards to the details of my job as a traveling salesperson. I have been driving every day since I finished college, but over the past few years I've basically been driving up and down California along the Pacific coast, as that's my territory. As is the case with any sales territory in my experience, it didn't take too long to know the roads like the back of my hand. While I obviously consider that a positive, it also means that I tend to shift into autopilot when I'm driving between destinations. I'll focus on where I'm going and not pay enough attention to where I am at any given time. That all changed for me on my last drive along the coast. I got a call about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco that my meetings for later that day had been canceled. Suddenly, I had nearly 24 hours to myself. I decided to stop where I was, in a place called Atascadero. I hadn't spent time there before, but I looked forward to exploring it. I wasn't concerned about finding an Atascadero hotel room, either, as I travel with my HotelTonight app.

Downtown

I rolled right into the middle of town, and I was immediately glad I had made that choice. Downtown Atascadero looks like a classic California, old-school sort of place. Approximately 30,000 people live in Atascadero, giving it that small-town feel that I love so much. The buildings in the middle of town were all very well maintained and all of them had a historic charm that I found quite appealing. The people in the area were all walking around, happy to be where they were greeting each other and me happily and genuinely. This was a happy place.

The Farmer's Market

I happened to be in town on a Wednesday, which meant that I was going to be there for the local farmer's market. I was thrilled about that, as I think farmer's markets are a great way to get a real look at a community. The farmer's market in Atascadero was as beautiful as it was joyous – and delicious. The produce from nearby was so big and inviting it's hard to describe even now. I ate watermelon slices, strawberries, green beans and so many other things, and all of these snacks were perfectly delicious. The people acted as if this event was a celebration.

The Dining

Since I was feeling such a classic-type vibe, I decided to take the recommendation of a lady at the farmer's market who told me to have dinner at the local saloon. The place did have the feel of a western movie when I walked in, but the menu was quite modern. Regardless, I went with the cheeseburger, fries and a nice local beer. I added some bacon to that burger for good measure. It was simply delicious, and I'm pretty sure the toppings on the burger came from the farmer's market.

HotelTonight – Atascadero Hotels Just for You

I was tired and thrilled with the day I had spent. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked an Atascadero hotel room almost instantly. It was just up the road, and before I knew it I was in my comfortable bed, looking forward to doing something like this more often in the future.
