HotelTonight – Modesto Hotels
I travel a lot for work, and one of the most common paths I take is when I have to drive from Los Angeles to Sacramento, as I have a lot of meetings in each city. I enjoy the drive, as it's generally calm and the scenery is relaxing as you head up Interstate 5 through the Grapevine. Over the years, I've basically stopped paying much attention to what was going off of the freeway as I drove, as I got used to what I was seeing and it all became second nature to me. I had to make that drive again recently, and I didn't give it a second thought before I embarked on the trip. I did as I got towards Sacramento, though as I was on the 5 when I encountered car trouble. I was concerned, but luckily I was near Modesto and had my car towed there. The mechanic told me they'd need 24 hours to get back out there, so I was going to be spending the night there. Lodging wasn't going to be a problem, as I travel with my HotelTonight app. I'd book a Modesto hotel room as soon as I was ready.
The History
Modesto is a historic town, dating back about 200 years. Settlers came here, travelers passed through during the Gold Rush and people from all over the world have come to call it home. I decided to take a look at what life was like about 150 years ago by visiting the McHenry Museum. It really was a trip back in time. There was a general store, a very nicely maintained horse buggy and several other items that had obviously been taken care of meticulously for a long time. I spent a couple of hours there enjoying the exhibits.
The Parks
Modesto sits in a part of California that is quite warm, so the people who live there seem to be the type that enjoy getting out in the sun. I found an enormous park near downtown and decided to walk through it. There were trees everywhere, and they almost provided a natural sort of canopy from the sun. Of course, there was a gigantic playground and a nice walking path, and the park was filled with locals who were out with their children and/or dogs. I spent some time talking to a few of them.
The Dining
There were quite a few options for dinner in Modesto, and one of the people I spoke to at the park told me about an Italian place that where he eats at least once per month. I got there and found it to be very peaceful and quiet, which I appreciate when having a meal. I ordered the lasagna, which was divine, and they poured a very big glass of wine to go with it. I had a second one since I wasn't driving, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
HotelTonight – Modesto Hotels Near You
I was extremely full from my Italian meal, and I was happy that I had turned a day that started out badly into a good one. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Modesto hotel room in seconds. I couldn't wait to get some sleep and get back out on the road the next day, but HotelTonight had made the unexpected easy to manage.
