HotelTonight – Sierra Vista, AZ Hotels at the Ready
I'm not sure a lot of people talk about this, but I really like driving through the mountains of Arizona. I know that a lot of people love visiting Arizona, and I'm among them. I know that a lot of people love driving through the Arizona desert, and I'm also a proud member of that group. There's just something that seems somewhat overlooked when it comes to the mountains in the Grand Canyon State, and, to me, this is about as beautiful a part of the world as I have ever seen, and I've seen quite a bit of it over the years. On a recent drive through the area for work, I was wishing that I had more time to explore someplace new. Just then, I got a phone call telling me that my next 24 hours were wide open. I wasted no time in stopping in the next community, so I could make the most of my free day. I stopped in Sierra Vista. I wasn't worried about finding a place to stay, as I always travel with HotelTonight. I'd book a Sierra Vista, AZ hotel room, as soon as I needed one.
The Hiking
It was a beautiful day that day, so I wanted to get out and hike, as that's one of my favorite activities. I pulled my shoes out of my car and found a trailhead right near town. I jumped on it and before I knew it, I was surrounded by hills and mountains that were surprisingly green. I could see for miles in every direction. I was not out there alone, but there were not too many others out there enjoying the sun. I spent several hours listening to the wind, taking photos and enjoying the entire scene.
The Farmer's Market
I got back to town to find that there was a farmer's market that day, as there is on Thursdays. I was quite excited about that, as I was hoping to snack on some fruit and get something to drink. The farmer's market there was quite a sight, as it was filled with produce stands and other homemade food, but there was music playing, people gathering and children running exuberantly through the entire area. I walked around, sampled some delicious strawberries and watermelon, listened to some music and had some nice conversations with locals.
The Dining
The last place I thought I'd want to eat dinner in Arizona would be at a German restaurant, but I heard about it so many times throughout the day that I had to give it a shot. The restaurant itself would be easy to miss, but the food was transcendent. I had the schnitzel with purple cabbage, and it may as well have been prepared in Berlin or Munich. It was perfectly tender on the inside, crunchy and tasty on the outside, and the cabbage rounded out the flavors perfectly. It was a great meal all around.
