HotelTonight – Find Great Hotels in Casper Wyoming
Casper, Wyoming has earned many nicknames, from "The Oil City" to "The Year-Round Mountain Town," and it's regularly ranked as one of the friendliest cities in the country. As someone who just visited Casper, I can say that this ranking is definitely appropriate – Casper is one of the warmest, welcoming communities I've ever visited, and I felt right at home from the moment I arrived. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Casper, which is located in the center of beautiful Wyoming, is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in the country. After spending a couple of days in Casper, this small town in Wyoming earned its spot near the top of my "Favorite Places in the Country" list. I was so glad that my road trip took me right through Casper, and I'm even more grateful that I decided to book a Casper hotel through HotelTonight so that I could spend more time really exploring the heart of this small town in Wyoming.
Outdoor Adventures
Casper is widely known as a haven for outdoors enthusiasts. The iconic Casper Mountain, the beautiful North Platte River and the picturesque Fremont Canyon are all within a short drive from the town, which means that any type of outdoor activity you could dream of is in your backyard when you stay in Casper. During my time in Casper, I went hiking in Fremont Canyon and fished for monster brown trout in the North Platte River, and I soaked in every minute I had in the great outdoors.
Museums and Galleries
Not all of Casper's attractions are found outdoors. For being such a small town, Casper actually has an impressive offering of museums and art galleries. Casper is home to the Nicolaysen Art Museum and Discover Center, the Fort Caspar Museum, the Werner Wildlife Museum, the Tate Geological Museum and more. So whether you want to see artwork from local artists or you want to learn more about dinosaurs, Casper has something specific to interest you.
The Road To Yellowstone
Most visitors stop in Casper while en route to Yellowstone National Park – that's why I ended up in Casper, after all. Stopping in Casper before heading to Yellowstone gave me a great taste of what life is really like for locals in Wyoming, and I realized there's much more to this state than just gorgeous natural scenery – it also boasts tight-knit communities and an exceptional quality of life.
