Located between Seattle and Mount Rainier, Sumner is a great little city to visit on road trips through the state of Washington. Sumner is a rather small city, with a population of less than 10,000, and it's this small town charm that really sets it apart from other cities I visited on my road trip. It was lucky that I needed to refuel my car in Sumner, because once I stopped in this charming town, I knew that I wanted to extend my stay. So instead of hopping back in the car and driving away, I decided to book a hotel in Sumner, Washington. To find a great last-minute hotel in Sumner, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone. Minutes later, I had booked a lovely hotel in the heart of Sumner, and I was ready to get to know more about this lovely town in Washington.

You can get a feel for its history downtown, which is full of old, well preserved buildings. It's also home to a number of small businesses, and it's where locals come to enjoy a good meal.

Despite its small size, Sumner actually has a lot of great arts and entertainment to offer its residents. Sumner has a handful of small theaters and performing arts venues, and it also hosts regular festivals and community events. Some of the biggest events of the year include the Sumner Rhubarb Pie Festival, Music Off Main and Movies Off Main. I was lucky enough to visit Sumner during the summer months, so I was able to see what Music Off Main was all about. This Friday night festival was full of energy, excitement and a tight-knit community atmosphere.

Fortunately, Sumner boasts fantastic parks and outdoor spaces, such as the Bill Heath Sports Complex, the Reuben A. Knoblauch Heritage Park and Loyalty Park. Locals love Sumner's parks, as they offer great spaces for getting active, playing sports and even picnicking.
