HotelTonight – Oak Harbor Washington Hotels
Oak Harbor is an idyllic seaside town on Whidbey Island in Washington, and it's a popular weekend getaway for locals all over the state and particularly for Seattle locals. Situated in the northwest corner of the country, Oak Harbor has a unique atmosphere and culture that you won't find outside of the Pacific Northwest, and it's one of the many reasons why I loved it. Before visiting Oak Harbor, I knew relatively little about the city and about Whidbey Island. After just a couple of days in Oak Harbor, though, I had developed a soft spot in my heart for this island oasis in the PNW. I was so glad I had the chance to visit, and I was even more glad that it was so easy to book my hotel. Whenever I need to find a great hotel at a moment's notice, I look on HotelTonight. Within minutes on the easy-to-use HotelTonight app, I had found a great hotel in Oak Harbor, Washington, and I was ready to escape to the island.
Main Street
The historic downtown of Oak Harbor is a quaint, laidback community that sits on the waterfront. So while you're walking past shops, restaurants and art galleries one moment, you could be walking along the dock the next. This truly feels like a quintessential beach town, and Main Street is the heart of life and activity in Oak Harbor, which is why I was so glad my hotel was in walking distance to all of the action in downtown.
State Parks
I wanted to make the most of my time on Whidbey Island, so I set out early in the morning to explore the natural surroundings. Oak Harbor is nearby a number of state parks, such as Deception Pass State Park, Joseph Whidbey State Park and For Ebey State Park. These state parks feature great hiking trails, gorgeous natural scenery and beautiful coastline, and I could have spent days exploring all of them.
Outdoors Adventure
Given its location and its proximity to countless great state parks, Oak Harbor is a haven for anybody looking for some outdoors adventure. When the weather is warm, you can head out on the water and enjoy boating, kayaking and fishing, but even in the cooler months you can still enjoy this beautiful setting. You'll also find great hiking, biking, whale watching and bird watching in Oak Harbor.
