HotelTonight – Far North Fort Worth Hotels
Fort Worth, Texas is a city that has a little bit of something for everyone. It's situated in a part of Texas that is near a lot of things and places that are worth seeing, but I've always wanted to get to know this city better. That's because I came here once about 10 years ago for work and really liked what I experienced. Unfortunately, I only had time to see a few things and to enjoy a few meals, but I remember that at the end of that trip I told myself that if I ever had the opportunity to come back there, I would make the most of it. As fate may have it, that opportunity arose recently. I had a 24-hour layover and instead of just sitting at the airport near the hotel, I decided to spend those 24 hours exploring. I wanted to choose one neighborhood to see, so I chose the Far North part of town. I wasn't worried about finding a place to stay, either, as I always travel with my trusty HotelTonight app. It would help me find a Far North Fort Worth hotel room as soon as I needed one.
The Size
When I've explored neighborhoods in the past, I've usually encountered places that have fewer than 10,000 residents or so. That's my unofficial population number for what I consider a neighborhood even though that's anything but official. That said, there are well over 100,000 people in the Far North area of Fort Worth. That's an enormous neighborhood, but what I immediately discovered by talking to some people is that this is still very much a small and tightly-knit community based on the values put forth by the residents. Everyone seems to know everyone else and everyone watches out for everyone else. That's a neighborhood.
The Homes
The Far North is very much a residential area, and these are actually some of my favorite places to explore because they give you a real, unfiltered look at what life is like here. What I saw in the Far North part of town was a lot of single-family homes--and some other types of residences--that were mostly of good size. What I also saw was a lot of homes that were extremely well-maintained. There is a lot of pride of ownership here, and that's an important thing in terms of how a neighborhood tends to come together.
The Food
Just because a place is largely residential does not mean that they don't know how to run a great restaurant or two. I was told about a Mexican restaurant nearby that was extremely popular with the locals. I tried it and understood after my first bite why it attracted such a loyal following. The carne asada was sublime and the tortillas were light, fluffy and obviously made that day at that location, which makes all the difference.
