And trust me, Dallas locals know just how great their city is--after all, it offers great sports, fantastic dining and shopping, endless entertainment and a world-class art scene. There's never a reason to be bored in Dallas, particularly in downtown Dallas, which is the heart of this bustling metropolis. The Arts District
Do you know which city boasts the largest urban arts district in the U.S.? That's right – Dallas. Located downtown, the Dallas Arts District sprawls over 20 square blocks, and it encompasses world-class museums, excellent performing arts venues, and a terrific selection of restaurants and bars. This neighborhood is an enclave for creative minds, and you'll see breathtaking art and innovative designs around every corner in the Arts District. As a lover of the arts, I fell for the Dallas Arts District almost immediately, and I could have easily spent an entire weekend exploring every inch of this massive urban arts neighborhood.
Urban Parks
While downtown Dallas certainly is an urban center, it still offers a high quality of life for its residents. One of the main reasons why downtown Dallas is such a great place to live is because it is home to a number of urban parks, such as the acclaimed Klyde Warren Park, which provides locals with a beautiful green space for exercising, playing, socializing and enjoying beautiful natural scenery. I was consistently surprised by how many picturesque public parks I came across as I wandered through downtown Dallas.
The West End
If you want to discover the history of Dallas, you should carve out some time for the West End. This historic district is home to museums, old warehouses and railroad stations, and some of the city's most famous monuments and sites, such as the grassy knoll JFK memorial. I spent half a day wandering the West End and by the end of my little tour felt that I had a much deeper understanding of Dallas' history as well as its modern culture.
