HotelTonight – Easton Columbus Hotels
Columbus, Ohio, is one of the most fascinating places many people have never seen. I only encountered it by chance a few years ago when I was there for work and knew immediately that this was a place that I simply had to experience on a deeper level. Too many trips consisted of simply going from the airport to my Columbus hotel room to my meetings to a nearby restaurant and then back to the airport. You can't get to know a city like that. I decided to do something different. On my recent trips, I've been booking my return flights for 24 hours after my last meeting was finished. That gave me an entire day to explore a place and to get to know it relatively well. That place I wanted to discover was a new neighborhood every time I visited. It gave me some geographic definition, but also removed the time-related stress. On my last trip, I chose to explore the Easton neighborhood. The Cleanliness
I have to admit that I've visited a lot of cities and a lot of neighborhoods over the years, and quite a few of them had a lot of character but not a lot of cleanliness for whatever reason. That is the opposite of what's happening in Easton. The first thing I noticed about this little community was that it was incredibly clean. I'm not sure how they do it, as there are a lot of people around, but I barely even saw a piece of random trash on the ground. That tells me a lot about a place.
The Shopping
Easton is known by folks in Columbus and around Ohio as a mecca for shopping, and it doesn't take long to figure out why. There are stores everywhere, and they are all teeming with shoppers. If you name a big brand that you would expect to find in a major retail area, you're going to find it here in Easton. It was amazing to walk around and just watch people doing the consumer thing, buying new clothes, housewares and the like. Business is booming in Columbus, and this is a part of town that's doing very well.
The Dining
Shoppers have big appetites, and thankfully for them there are seemingly as many choices for dining as there are for shopping in Easton. I wanted some Italian food that night, and was told about a place that served some of the finest around. They weren't kidding, as I realized as soon as my food arrived. I enjoyed my lasagna immensely, and the wine that they suggested I have with it was a great piece of guidance.
