I had been in the car for hours during a recent cross-country trip and needed a break. I saw that I was near the town of Grand Forks and decided to pull off the road and spend some time exploring the area. The Area
Located in eastern North Dakota, Grand Forks is the largest city in Grand Forks County and sits on the North Dakota-Minnesota border. Grand Forks lies on the banks of the Red River and is one of the most lively and exciting cities in North Dakota. It's the perfect place to stop for someone who would like to enjoy the outdoors, while still having access to all the comforts of a city. As I pulled into town off the highway, I could tell I was going to love my day in Grand Forks. A relaxing day in the city was just what I needed to break up my long drive.
Things to Do
I decided to start my day out with a visit to the North Dakota Museum of Art. I always love getting a taste of the local culture when I visit a new place and the museum was a great way to do that. I loved seeing the works that regional artists have created and paintings that feature the natural beauty of the area. Then I headed to a really cool antique mall. There were a lot of really cool and interesting items and everything was reasonably priced. I could have spent hours wandering in and out of the little shops.
The Food
After I left the mall I was feeling hungry and wanted to get something to eat. I love to eat where the locals go, so I asked around for recommendations and was led to a really cool restaurant that had food from all over the world. I ordered a Walleye Picatta, which was a lightly fried fish that came with a potato. The fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. I'm definitely going to visit the restaurant again during my next trip through North Dakota. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Once I'd finished my dinner, I was feeling ready to get some rest.
