HotelTonight – Boston West Hotels at a Glance
Boston is one of those cities that I can visit again and again and still discover something new that makes me see the city in a whole new light. As someone who travels often for work, I have visited most of the major cities in the US, but Boston still remains one of my all-time favorite cities in the world. There is a distinct culture and character in Boston that you can't find anywhere else, and I feel right at home whenever I drive into the city. Recently, I found myself on another business trip to Boston, but I didn't just want to spend my days exploring the standard touristy spots – I'd already done all that. I wanted to get to know an area of the city that is more authentic and local, which is why I decided to book a hotel in West Boston through HotelTonight. Given that I travel so often, HotelTonight has become one of my very favorite apps, because it allows me to book great last-minute hotels in just a few taps on my phone.
West End
The West End of Boston has undergone numerous transformations over the past century, which is why I am so drawn to its current character. While it was once considered the slums, the West End is now an upscale neighborhood filled with trendy high-rises and beautiful parks. It's also brimming with interesting history, which you can see around every corner if you're paying attention. Today, this area is a hub for working professionals and sports fans, as it's home to TD Garden, but it's also a great home base for anyone looking to explore Boston, since it's minutes away from North Station.
Cambridge
Just across the river from Boston is the city of Cambridge, which is arguably best known as home to Harvard University and MIT. Because of its brilliant student population, there's a fresh, exciting energy in Cambridge that you won't find elsewhere in Boston, and it's part of the reason why visiting Cambridge is so much fun. My favorite places to visit while in Cambridge include Harvard Square, the Charles River and Kendall Square.
Revolutionary Sites
If you head west out of Boston, you'll eventually hit charming New England towns like Lexington and Concord, and along the way you'll stumble upon countless historic sites. Since I am fascinated by American history, I always love visiting historic sites when I'm in New England. Some of the sites I visited on my recent Boston trip included the North Bridge (the site of the first battle of the Revolution) and the Buckman Tavern (where the Minute Men were stationed when Paul Revere sounded the alarm), as well as Walden Pond and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Taking the time to explore the towns west of Boston is a must for any history buff.
