HotelTonight – Fountain Square Indianapolis Hotels
Indianapolis is one of those cities that is world famous for some things but not well-known for others, much like most other communities. This is a place that is known for auto racing and basketball. Those are both important things to the people here, but there is a lot more to know and appreciate about Indianapolis. I've been coming here for a long time, and my most recent job has taken me here regularly. I wanted to keep exploring it, so what I've been doing is booking my return flights for 24 hours after I am finished with my work obligations. I would use those 24 hours as best I could, which meant that I would pick one neighborhood to explore for that entire day. That removed any time stress and allowed me to really dig deeply into an area. On my most recent trip, I chose to explore the Fountain Square neighborhood. I would spend the day getting to know it and then at the end of the day I'd make use of my HotelTonight app. It would find me a Fountain Square Indianapolis hotel room as soon as I was ready.
The History
The first thing you notice when you get to Fountain Square is its age, and that's meant in a positive way. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Indianapolis, and there are buildings here that date back to just after the Civil War. Yes, that's about 150 years ago now. Everything looks like it's in a bit of a time warp, but it's beautiful in a way that cannot be mimicked artificially. I walked around and took a lot of photos, talking to some of the friendly people along the way. I could tell this was a happy place.
The Outdoors
I would never have thought of an old-school neighborhood in the middle of a big city to have a lot going for it in terms of outdoor activities, but that's one of the many things you'll find in Fountain Square. There is a hiking and bicycle path here that goes for miles, and since I like to exercise outside as much as possible, I took some time and went for a big hike on it. It was a lovely path that was definitely maintained meticulously, and it was a beautiful day to get out and enjoy the sun and this lovely neighborhood.
The Cuisine
After all that exercise, I had worked up a pretty good appetite. I figured I had earned it, so I went looking for a nice big hamburger. I asked a lady where to go, and she pointed me to a place just down the road that had been there for decades. As soon as I took my first bite, I knew I had hit the jackpot. The burger was juicy, tasty and perfectly cooked. The bun was properly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the toppings were extremely fresh.
