HotelTonight – Last-Minute Deals on Acapulco Hotels
I'm proud to say I've visited a majority of Mexico's popular resort towns over the years, as Mexico happens to be one of my favorite destinations for a sun-filled beach vacation. However, I had never made it to the charming Pacific coast town of Acapulco – until very recently, that is. When I realized I had a free weekend to plan a spur-of-the-moment getaway, I decided to pack a bag with swimsuits and flip-flops and head to Mexico. While trying to decide which Mexico resort town to visit for this trip, I realized that I had never been to the famed vacation town of Acapulco. So I immediately booked my flight and checked out HotelTonight to book a last-minute hotel in Acapulco.
In less than a few minutes, I had a great hotel room waiting for me in a seaside Acapulco resort, and I was ready to immerse myself in this beautiful, historic beach town. Since I tend to love planning last-minute trips, I'm always happy to know I can rely on HotelTonight to find last-minute deals on hotels in some of the best destinations in the world.
Playa Condesa
As soon as I arrived in Acapulco, all I wanted to do was throw on my swimsuit and head to the beach. Fortunately, my hotel was located near Playa Condesa, one of Acapulco's most popular beaches, so I simply strolled over to this long stretch of sandy white beach and rolled out my towel. Playa Condesa is located right in the center of Acapulco Bay, so the water is calmer than other beaches in the area, making it a perfect spot to enjoy water sports. That morning, I rented a jet ski and headed out on the Pacific Ocean, where I enjoyed gorgeous views of Acapulco from just off the coast.
Isla La Roqueta
Later that afternoon, I wanted to explore some of the area's natural beauty, so I made the trip out to Isla La Roqueta. This island is easily accessible by boat, and it offers incredible snorkeling and diving. If you want to see the marine life in Acapulco, Isla La Roqueta is definitely a must-see during your time during your stay in Acapulco. With its crystal-clear water and beautiful, rocky beaches, this stunning island is well worth the 45-minute boat ride from Acapulco.
The Zocalo
Whenever I visit a new city, I like to get a taste of the local culture and atmosphere, which is why I made my way to the Zocalo after my long day of outdoor adventures. The Zocalo is the heart and center of Acapulco, and you can always find something new to see or experience in this town square. During my time in the Zocalo, I listened to live music, wandered through local boutiques and dined at a charming café. While the Zocalo used to be the epicenter of Acapulco's city life, it's a bit quieter these days, but it's definitely still worth the trip if you want to see beautiful architecture and a historic city square.
La Quebrada
The next day, I started my morning at La Quebrada. Since it's one of the most famous attractions in all of Acapulco, I knew I couldn't miss La Quebrada during my short Mexico vacation. The massive, striking cliffs at La Quebrada are stunning, and they're especially great for photo ops. The cliffs aren't the most exciting part of La Quebrada, though – the divers jumping off of them are. If you're lucky enough to visit La Quebrada when divers are hurling themselves off these cliffs (which is pretty often), you're sure to be mesmerized by the divers as they jump, flip and twist off the rocks.
Playa Icacos
After a morning of watching divers jump off of the massive cliffs at La Quebrada, I decided I wanted to spend more time lounging at the beach, so I visited one of the area's most beloved beaches, Playa Icacos. This beach is adjacent to Playa Condesa, but unlike Condesa, it's not packed with tourists. This stretch of sand is much less crowded than Condesa, making it the ideal spot for beachgoers who want to enjoy a bit more peace and quiet.
