HotelTonight – Find Great Last-Minute Hotels in Riccione

Known as the Green Pearl of the Adriatic, Riccione is one of Italy's hottest summer spots. This resort town boasts long stretches of stunning beaches, elegant shopping and dining areas, fantastic weather and plenty of entertainment options for both adults and children. This is the town Italians visit when they want to play, relax and simply enjoy the beauty of the Adriatic Coast. This past summer, I decided that I wanted to taste "la dolce vita" alongside the Italians, so I planned a spur-of-the-moment trip to Riccione.

After spending a week in the beautiful city of Florence, I started craving the beach. Italy has no shortages of stunning beaches, so I didn't know quite where to start. Fortunately, a few locals pointed me toward Riccione, a popular coastal resort town that becomes a haven for sun-seekers and beach lovers during the warmer months. Without hesitating, I packed my bags and headed to the Adriatic Coast. On the way, I pulled up my HotelTonight app and booked a great last-minute hotel in Riccione. Just like that, I had a great hotel room waiting for me in this picture-perfect Italian beach town.

Viale Ceccarini

I quickly discovered that you simply couldn't visit Riccione without strolling down Viale Ceccarini. This main avenue is the go-to spot for great shopping, dining and nightlife, and many visitors spend a great deal of time on Viale Ceccarini. Even if you don't want to shop at the high-end boutiques and designers stores on this popular avenue, you should still stroll down it at least once during your stay in Riccione, as it provides a great feel for the vibe of this luxury resort town.

Rimini Beach

Obviously, the main reason to visit Riccione is for the beach, so I didn't waste any time before throwing on my swimsuit and heading to the "spiaggia". As one of the most famous beaches in Italy, Rimini Beach is certainly a sight you won't want to miss. The wide stretch of sand is covered in umbrellas, sun chairs and sunbathers lying on towels. Like many of the best beaches in the area, you have the choice between enjoying the sun on a paid section of the beach or on a free section of the beach. For a small fee, you will have access to sun loungers, umbrellas, showers and special areas for kids. If you opt for the free beach, you'll still have access to a beautiful section of Rimini Beach, but you'll have to bring your own towel and umbrella.

Wineries

We all know that Italy makes great wine, so it came as no surprise to me that the Adriatic Coast had a great wine scene. The fertile plains of this region result in some of Italy's best food and best wine, so Riccione is definitely a great place for foodies and wine lovers. Whether you choose to visit the wineries in person or choose to just sample local wines at restaurants, you're sure to be impressed with these fine Italian wines.

Gabicce Monte

Just outside of Riccione, you'll find Gabicce Mare, a charming seaside town that becomes a hot spot for Italians during the summer. While Gabicce Mare has plenty of great beaches to choose from, I decided to visit the area for another reason--its beautiful hikes. If you want sweeping views of the Adriatic Coast as well as the Italian countryside, you'll definitely want to plan a hike on Gabicce Monte. At the top of this hill, you will find a small, charming village and some luxury resorts. While you can access this area by car, I chose to walk up the hill to enjoy the lush foliage and beautiful scenery of this Adriatic gem.

San Marino

The sovereign state of San Marino is located just inland from Riccione, and you shouldn't visit the Adriatic Coast without making a trip to this independent state in Italy. This tiny European country features well-preserved medieval fortresses, fantastic hikes through stunning landscapes and small, quiet villages. Something about San Marino makes it feel as if it's been preserved in a time capsule, so it's certainly one of the most interesting areas to visit in this region of Italy.

Considered Italy's summer playground, Riccione and the surrounding Adriatic towns teem with excitement, energy and beauty during the spring and summer. I believe that Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and the Adriatic Coast is one of the prettiest areas in Italy.
