HotelTonight – Find Hotels in the Salt Lake City Airport Area with Ease
I was in the Salt Lake City Airport and just found out the flight I was supposed to be on was canceled. It had been pushed back to the following morning, so I found myself with a free day to spend in the city. I decided to make the most of my extended vacation and use the HotelTonight app to find a room near the airport and then spend some time exploring the area around the Airport.
The Area
The Salt Lake Airport is located four miles outside of downtown SLC and is in the heart of the Salt Lake Valley. The airport is surrounded by the sprawling city and there are a lot of things to do close to the airport. I was able to find a lot of great things to do while I spent the day in the area of the airport. I was without a car and didn't want to stray too far from the airport, but that wasn't a problem. I was able to have a great day in the area around the airport.
Things to Do
The first thing I did during my day in Salt Lake City was walk over to the Temple Square area. It was only a few blocks away from the airport, and I got to see some gorgeous buildings. Right across the street from Temple Square was the Gateway Mall, which was full of great stores. I spent a lot of time wandering around the mall and window shopping. I also saw an ad for a historic trolly ride through the city that looked like it would have been a lot of fun. There was no shortage of things to do, and it all was within walking distance of the airport.
The Food
In addition to all the great things to do near the airport, there also were several great places to eat. I asked some locals if there was a place I should try nearby and they pointed me in the direction of a really cool restaurant that specializes in homestyle cooking and gives you the feel of a Pioneer-era eatery. The food was great, and I loved the historical feel of the restaurant. It also had great desserts, after my meal I had a slice of cake that was so moist and delicious, I'm still thinking about it.

After a fun day in the city and a great meal, I was feeling ready to relax for the night. I knew I'd be able to find a hotel near the airport with the HotelTonight app. Within a matter of minutes, I had booked a nice room that was close to the airport. That night as I stretched out on my bed in the hotel room, I thought about the great day I'd had and was glad my flight was canceled. Spending a fun day in Salt Lake City was just what I needed.
