Located just 20 minutes away from Dallas, the town of Allen, Texas is one of the most desirable places to live in the area. This family-friendly community boasts a small-town atmosphere and plenty of great things to do and see, so it's no surprise so many people want to live here. During a recent business trip to Dallas, I decided to get out of the city and explore a different part of the region, which is how I ended up in Allen. I immediately loved the tight-knit community feel of Allen, and I tried to see Allen through the eyes of a local. Given its great year-round weather, Allen is a great city for anyone who enjoys being outdoors. Allen has more than 30 public parks, and more than 60 miles of hiking and biking trails. When I asked locals about what to do in Allen, many of them suggested that I take advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoy some of the area's best parks and hiking trails, and that's exactly what I did. Through partaking in some of the city's best outdoor recreation areas, I got a great feel for what everyday life is like for Allen residents.
Arts and Entertainment
Despite Allen's small size, this Texas town puts a big emphasis on the arts and entertainment. Allen is home to the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Chorus, Allen's Community Theatre, the Allen Civic Ballet and the Blue House Too Gallery. Allen provides many opportunities for locals to enjoy the arts, which is one of the many reasons why locals love their town so much. And it's one of the reasons why I also developed a soft spot in my heart for Allen.
