There are 50 original buildings in Fort Still that are still standing, which is why it's one of the most treasured living Army museums in the country. If you are interested in American history, you definitely shouldn't miss the chance to visit Fort Still, which was easily one of the highlights of my time in Lawton.

Lawton is a haven for outdoors enthusiasts. There are so many great outdoors recreation options and wildlife centers in the area, so there's really no shortage of reasons to enjoy the outdoors when you're in Lawton. If you want to see native wildlife while in Lawton, you can visit the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. There are also a handful of great lakes and mountains in the area, such as Lake Elmer Thomas, Mount Scott and Lake Ellsworth. So whether you want to go bird watching or boating, there's something in Lawton that will excite you.
Town Center
In the center of the city, you'll find blocks and blocks of little stores and restaurants and a number of major retailers. While the small city of Lawton doesn't have a major downtown area, it does offer small little hubs of dining and entertainment that are always packed with locals. After a long day on the lake or exploring Fort Still, you'll want to kick back and relax at one of the restaurants in the center of Lawton.
