HotelTonight – Book Hotels in Tahoe-Gardnerville at the Drop of a Hat
I was recently in the Lake Tahoe area for a series of stressful business meetings and found myself with a free day after the final meeting was canceled. Instead of just heading home, I wanted to do something to relax and unwind. I was looking to find somewhere a bit more secluded than Lake Tahoe, so I headed to nearby Gardnerville and decided to spend the day there. I knew finding a place to stay wouldn't be a problem thanks to the HotelTonight app.
The Area
Gardnerville is located in Douglas County and is just a short drive from beautiful Lake Tahoe. The town is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is located near the Eldorado National Forest. Gardnerville has a population of just over 5,500 people and is a popular stopping place for people on their way to Lake Tahoe or to the Sierra Nevada mountains. The town is filled with great things to see and do, and is a wonderful place to visit for anyone passing through western Nevada. I could tell as soon as I pulled into town that I was going to love my day in Gardnerville.
Things to Do
I started my day off in town with a trip to the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center. It was a great way to experience the culture and history of the area and learn about the area of Gardnerville. Next, I spent some time visiting some of the antique shops in town and enjoyed being able to do a bit of shopping. I capped off my day with a hike on one of the many trails around the city and loved being able to stretch my legs and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Gardnerville.
The Food
After I finished my hike, I was feeling hungry and wanted to get something to eat. I always like to sample the best of the local food scene, so I asked some locals where the best place to get a bite to eat was. Several people suggested I try Julio's Restaurant so I headed there. I ordered a steak and baked potato and, as soon as I took the first bite, I was glad I decided to eat there. Everything was cooked to perfection and was some of the best food I've ever had. I'll definitely stop there again, during my next trip through town.

When I finished dinner I was feeling ready to get some rest and relax after a fun day in Gardnerville. The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and was ready to finish my drive to California. I'm so glad I decided to spend a day in Gardnerville and will be sure to return soon.
