When I arrived in Billings, Montana, I didn't quite know what to expect from the city. The surrounding natural scenery is absolutely stunning, but I didn't expect to be as blown away by the town itself. Billings quickly proved me wrong, though, as it has a welcoming, small-town feel that won me over instantly. As a city dweller, I'm not used to a tight-knit community atmosphere or the wide-open boulevards that I found in Billings, and I became quite enamored with Billings' unique charm. I quickly discovered that Billings locals go to the West Park Promenade to shop. This expansive commercial center is full of major retailers as well as local shops, and I had a great time exploring this Midtown shopping center. After just an hour in the Promenade, I had gained a pretty good sense of what it was like to be a Midtown local, and I was very glad I chose to stay in this Billings neighborhood.
A Diverse Community
Midtown is the most densely populated neighborhood in Billings, so it's also where you'll find some of the most diverse, interesting locals in the city. Parts of Midtown have undergone gentrification in recent years, while others have remained true to their character. Whether you are walking or driving through the neighborhood, you're sure to stumble upon charming old homes, pretty streets and tons of local hotspots.

Since Midtown is so densely populated, this neighborhood needs lots of dining options. So if you ever need to find something to eat, you'll be taken care of in Midtown. During my stay, I found that the best place to meet locals is at the popular restaurants and bars, where Billings' friendly locals are sure to give you tips on how to best experience their city. Whether you are trying to see more of the city or explore the natural wonders just outside the city, the locals will be more than happy to divulge some of their best tips.
