HotelTonight – Tahoma Hotels at the Ready
Lake Tahoe is a destination for people from all over the world, all year long, for obvious reasons. Skiing aficionados flock to the lake during the winter to hit the slopes. Outdoor enthusiasts of all types converge on the region during the warmer months to take in all that the surrounding nature has to offer. I have driven through this area many times, and I've spent a few weekends and such at different resorts near the lake. What I had never really done until recently, however, was take the time to get to know any of the communities that sit along the shoreline of this majestic body of water. Not too long ago, I was driving through the area for work on my way to an engagement. As I neared a town called Tahoma, I got a call that the event had been canceled. Not really sure what to do, I took a minute to realize that this was my chance to take at least one day to explore one of these places. I chose Tahoma, which was just up the road at the time. I wasn't worried about finding a Tahoma hotel room, either, as my HotelTonight app would find me one instantly when it was time.
The Quaintness
The first thing that overcame me as soon as I pulled into town was how quaint this little community of under 2,000 people was. It was the quintessential mountain town, as many of the buildings were built with logs from the local trees and the canopy from the trees that were still standing gave the entire place almost a surreal – but in a beautiful way – look to it. I walked around downtown for over an hour, just browsing the stores and talking to the very friendly locals.
The Beach
Who comes to a mountain town to spend time at a beach? A lot of people in Tahoma do just that, as there are beaches nearby that are worth the very short trip to see. I had spent a lot of time on ocean beaches, and the sand at this one was quite similar. The only differences were that you could see the other shoreline, the water was a bit colder and it was surrounded by gorgeous mountains and gigantic pine trees everywhere. I sat in the sun and enjoyed the weather for a couple of hours.
The Dining
After all of that exploring, I was more than ready to eat. I had spoken to a few locals during the day, and more than one told me about a pizza place that had been serving some mean pies for a long time. I decided to give that a shot. I walked into what seemed like a mountain lodge, which was appropriate. The smell of cheese and garlic made me even hungrier. I ordered the pepperoni and mushroom and had a very nice local beer to go with it. It was fantastic pizza with just the right amounts of toppings, cheese and sauce.
HotelTonight
With a belly full of pizza and a day full of memories, I decided to call it a night. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Tahoma hotel room in seconds. I couldn't wait to get some sleep, satisfied that I had finally seen one of the beautiful places up here in the mountains.
