HotelTonight – Book Hotels in Wendover at the Drop of a Hat
I was driving to California and had been on the road for several hours when I got to Wendover. After hours in the car, I needed a break and decided to spend the day in the city. Even though my stop in Wendover was spur of the moment, I wouldn't have a problem finding a place to stay for the night, thanks to the HotelTonight app, leaving me free to enjoy a great day in the city.
The Area
Wendover is located on the Utah-Nevada border with West Wendover in Nevada, and the city of Wendover in Tooele County, Utah. The city on the edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert and has a small population. The town is near several hiking trails and is just a short drive away from West Wendover where there's always something exciting happening. This was the first time I'd ever spent time in Wendover and hadn't really thought of spending time in the city before. But I was so glad, I decided to pull off the road and spend a day in Wendover.
Things to Do
One of the coolest things I saw in Wendover was the Historic Wendover Airfield. The museum features a lot of planes, bombs and historical information about WWII-era planes. I learned that the airbase was the original training ground for the crew of the Enola Gay. Everything I saw in the museum was interesting, and it was cool to go through the old hangers and see some of the planes from that era. I left the museum and decided to head over to the Sun Tunnels at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Sun Tunnels are a piece of land art by Nancy Holt. It was really cool to see and definitely worth the trip out to the salt flats.
The Food
After I got back into town from the salt flats, I was feeling hungry and ready to get something to eat for dinner. I wanted to try some good local food, so I asked around and was directed to the Salt Flats Cafe, which serves American and Mexican food. I ordered a hamburger and fries and sat down to enjoy the nice atmosphere while I waited for my food. The burger was great, and I was so glad I decided to eat at the cafe. I'll make sure I eat there again the next time I'm in Wendover.

When I'd finished dinner, I was feeling ready to get some rest and unwind for the night. I opened the HotelTonight app and within a matter of minutes, I'd booked a great room for the night. I was so glad I decided to pull off the road and spend the day in Wendover. I had a great day, and the next morning I hit the road again feeling refreshed and ready to finish my drive to California. Spending the day in Wendover definitely made my drive a lot better. I'll make sure to come back to Wendover again soon.
