During a recent business trip, I found myself in Orem with a day off. After the last meeting was unexpectedly canceled, I decided to spend a day to explore Orem. I pushed my flight home an extra day see the sights Orem had to offer. With the HotelTonight app, I knew I wouldn't have any problem finding a place to stay, even on short notice. That left me free to enjoy a great day in the city.
The Area
Orem is located on the shore of Utah Lake and is south of Salt Lake City near Provo. I quickly realized the Orem is the perfect place to stay when visiting Utah. It's just s short drive from major cities such as Salt Lake City and Provo and is full of great things to do. It's a perfect mixture of a small town feel with all the conveniences of a city. Orem has a great old-fashioned city feel to it. Almost as if it was from a classic black and white movie. Orem is also home to Utah Valley University.
Things to Do
One of the things that really surprised me about Orem was the number of things to do in the city. I always love to see a bit of the nature surrounding a new area I visit, so I took a little hike on one of the many trails surrounding Orem. There are a number of trails close to the city and it provides a great way to get out and enjoy the world. After that, I headed into town and visited the UVU campus. I'd heard about a really cool historical art piece on campus and wanted to check out the Roots of Knowledge stained glass windows. It was amazingly beautiful and definitely worth a visit if you're in Orem.
The Food
After my day of exploring the city, I was ready to get something to eat. I asked around and was led to a small cafe in the city. I ordered a delicious sandwich, which came with a side of potato salad. The potato salad tasted so good, I could have eaten just a big plate of it. In addition to the great food, I loved the laid-back atmosphere of the cafe and the friendly staff. It was a great way to cap off a fun day in Orem.

I'd loved my day in Orem. After finishing up my meal, it was time to relax and unwind for the evening.
