HotelTonight – Childress Texas Hotels
There are many small towns all over Texas, but one of my favorites I've encountered is Childress. This small town located in the southeastern Texas Panhandle region is home to about 6,000 proud locals, and if you ask them why they love their town, they'll be more than happy to share their thoughts, feelings and helpful travel tips with you. I was driving through the state of Texas when I stumbled upon Childress, which felt like the quintessential small Texas town. There's something so charming and inviting about this tight-knit community, so I felt like it was the perfect place to stop for the night. To book my hotel in Childress, I simply pulled up the HotelTonight app on my phone. Minutes later, I had booked a great hotel room in the heart of Childress, and I was ready to really get a feel for this small Texas town for myself.
Main Street
Like every small town in Texas, the heart of Childress can be found on Main Street. Childress has a small downtown area full of old school Texas charm, which is what appealed to me about Childress in the first place. This downtown area has a handful of locally beloved shops and restaurants, and I was drawn to the authentic Texas vibes I got from strolling down Main Street. I met a number of locals in shops and restaurants on Main Street, and they gave me some great tips on what to do and see in their town.
Fair Park
Since Fair Park is one of the most popular spots in Childress among locals, I knew that I had to visit at least once while I was in town. This pretty park is beloved among locals, since it's a great place for exercising, relaxing, and socializing. There are a number of walking trails, picnic areas, playground equipment and even a swimming pool. Naturally, Fair Park is one of the hotspots in town, so I spent my morning exploring the park and then enjoying a nice picnic for lunch.
Community Events
Even though Childress is a small town, this community certainly knows how to host some big-ticket events. Every year, the town hosts an Old Settlers' Reunion and regular rodeos. Childress also hosts the annual Greenbelt Bowl, a high school football classic that attracts visitors from all over Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. If you're in town for any of these major events, you'll get to see a whole new side of Childress.
