HotelTonight – Book Your Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh
The downtown area of Pittsburgh is the beating heart of the city, and many visitors stay here so they will be close to many of the city's main attractions, great restaurants and bars, and fantastic hotels. Since I wanted to be in the middle of the action during my stay in Pittsburgh, I decided to book a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, which was definitely the best decision of my trip. Staying in downtown, I was able to walk to everything, and I got a great sense of the culture and lifestyle of Pittsburgh locals. Plus, finding a great hotel in downtown Pittsburgh was a breeze thanks to HotelTonight, which always makes it easy for me to book great hotels no matter where or when I travel.
Market Square
The urban heart of Pittsburgh has more restaurants than you can count, which is why it's a great spot for food lovers to stay. My favorite area for restaurants in downtown Pittsburgh was Market Square, which offers plenty of great restaurants and al fresco dining options. If you come during the warmer months, you'll love sitting outside, watching locals pass by and enjoying a delicious meal in a vibrant Pittsburgh neighborhood. Also, some of these restaurants have been Pittsburgh establishments since the 1800s, so it's a great spot for history buffs to grab a bite to eat.
The Riverfront
Unlike many downtown areas, Pittsburgh's downtown is anything but a concrete jungle. There is plenty of greenery and nature to enjoy in downtown Pittsburgh, especially near the river. Pittsburgh boasts 24 miles of picturesque riverfront trails, which are great for walking, running and biking. If you would rather see the downtown skyline from the water, you can always hop on a kayak and head out on the river. In downtown Pittsburgh, there is no shortage of ways to enjoy the unique combination of the urban and the natural.
Point State Park
As the only state park in the country in an urban environment, Point State Park is definitely a unique place to visit when you're in Pittsburgh. Located at the tip of downtown Pittsburgh, Point State Park offers 36.4 acres of greenery, riverfront promenades and sweeping views of downtown and the surrounding areas. It's the perfect spot for a morning jog or an afternoon picnic, and it's such a beautiful, open space that I visited Point State Park every day during my trip.
