Originally founded as a separate village, Black Rock is now one of the most distinctive neighborhoods in Buffalo. While Buffalo annexed Black Rock back in the 1850s, Black Rock still doesn't feel like just any typical Buffalo neighborhood. Black Rock has its own vibe and culture, which is why it's one of the coolest neighborhoods in the city. Since I like to stay in quirky, unique neighborhoods when I travel, I decided to book a hotel in Black Rock on my recent trip to Buffalo. Dining and Nightlife
If you're hungry, Black Rock is a great place to be. This neighborhood offers countless unique eats, from locally renowned diners to popular Asian and Ethiopian restaurants. There are also several great nightlife options in the neighborhood, where you can find cheap brews, live music, and friendly locals. Black Rock will give you a taste of Buffalo's cool nightlife scene.
Black Rock Canal
Buffalo locals love the outdoors, and they love that their city has plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces to enjoy. Hours into my trip to Buffalo, I stumbled upon the Black Rock Canal, a beautiful canal that features a long, paved trail for walking, running and biking. Along the route, you'll find boat launches, where there will be many locals launching their boats and jet skis during the warmer months. If you want to go for a nice, leisurely walk and experience Buffalo like a local, I'd recommend putting on your walking shoes and heading to the Black Rock Canal.

I found plenty to love in the quirky, creative neighborhood of Black Rock, and I could understand why locals love to live here.
