HotelTonight – Benicia Hotels Are Available
The Bay Area in Northern California is more than just San Francisco and San Jose. While those are both beautiful cities for many reasons, anyone who has spent time in this part of the world understands that this area is more of a mosaic of all sorts of different communities. I started to find that out by chance, a few years ago, when I got lost on the freeway and spent some time in different places. Since then, I've been making it a point to see somewhere new every time I'm in the Bay Area, so that I can learn more about what makes it all tick. On my last work trip there, I purposely scheduled my return flight for 24 hours after my last meeting in San Francisco. I thought about where I'd spend those 24 hours exploring and decided on a place called Benicia. I wasn't worried about finding a place to stay, either, as I always travel with my HotelTonight app. I'd simply dress casually that morning, drive to Benicia and explore. I'd book a Benicia hotel room at the end of the day when I was ready to get some sleep.
The Capital
Most people know that Sacramento is the capital city of California. However, I did not know until I got there that Benicia was the capital city for just over a year, from February of 1853 until February of 1854. Today, there's a historic park there where the old capitol building still stands. I walked through it and found it quite fascinating, as it was small but very tasteful. That's just part of the history you'll find in this community, but it was a fact I was unaware of until I happened on the building.
The Beach
Benicia sits on the shores of San Francisco Bay, so it is what many consider to be a seaside community. After seeing some history, I wanted to see some nature, so I wandered off to the local beach. It's a bit rocky, and there are some old pilings in the water, but it's distinctly beautiful. There is tall grass all over, there was a nice breeze blowing that day and the water looked very calm and inviting. Lots of dogs and children were there that day with their adults having fun, so I took it all in while walking and taking photos.
The Dining
I had heard from this nice couple on the beach about a local Chinese place that was perfect for the type of not-too-fancy meal I was looking for that night. The restaurant is on the second floor of an old building, and there is no elevator. Despite the unassuming look, the food was fantastic. I had the fried rice, and it was perfectly cooked. The rice was tender and the vegetables were tasty, and it was all nice and hot, so I know it wasn't prepared ahead of time.
HotelTonight – Benicia Hotels Just for You
I was tired and happy to have seen another part of the Bay Area that day. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Benicia hotel room in seconds. Within a half-hour, I was lying in my comfortable bed, plotting my next adventure.
